FPS will vary from map to map.. simply because some maps have more objects to render than others which will require more CPU

I have a dual core CPU, so the affinity part is so that BF2 only runs on one CPU core, as BF2 has only been designed to run on one core.

The size bit is so that it runs at the resolution of my monitor, as BF2 doesnt have any widescreen options at the moment.

The player name and password is so that I don't need to log in every time I play.

You can also add +restart 1 and that will remove the splash screens at start up

what means that AFFINITY 2? I have no Dual Core, so is this right?

Really cool that it can pick up your username and password from the target line.

I think I'm gonna add all those little things to my target too, so I can be playing PR that little bit quicker . I already got rid of the videos.

And the widescreen bit will help with my mate who has a new monitor.

This is most likely because Bf2 is taking priority over punkbuster and so gets all of the cpu instead. I doubt there is a remedy for this. To be honest I think this is the only real flaw in setting priority high. That and maybe antivirus software. If you have a multi-core computer just set one core to doing the bf2 stuff. I think prioritising will only really work efficiently on a reasonably fast single core machine.

Changing the interleaving seems a little dodgy and I'm sure people will get differing results because it depends a lot on your isp and also your physical connection.

^ that tweak guide is really useful, it got rid of all of the crappery bogging down my computer and it makes everything a little more stable.

yeah thats nothing to do with the high priority setting because it dosent go near your internet only your cpu ? so you obviously have something else running or updating, because nobody i know has ever encountered this problem

Hmm the only processes that are running are windows stuff and antivir and zonealarm firewall *crouch*
or my pc is just too crappy for bf2 in high priority but that sounds a bit senseless...

OK I was able to make a .bat with starting bf2 in high priority.
but i still have MASSIVE lags, and my pc beeps when i move the mouse or press any button on my keyboard... in addition, during playing with high priority I cant hear mumble anymore .
please help me

I'm surprised no one else has commented on this part...

To have a good FPS you will want a constant one.

Doesn't have to be a constant number, just an average that is higher than what you consider playable (generally >30 FPS)

Higher isnt always better.

Even if you're only getting 2 FPS instead of 1 FPS it's still technically an improvement, albeit a minor one.

If your computer cannot handle a constant 250 fps which would mean it was inbetween 200 and 250 all the time that would be bad. It would slow down

A constant frame rate is nice, but you're ridiculously overestimating smooth frame rates.

Basically what I'm saying is 200+ FPS is not bad and you would not be able to identify a slow down between 250 and 200 frames per second (just think about how fast that is - for a second :wink .

also you cant jump as far if your fps isnt constant.

What does jumping distance have to do with this?

So lets say your computer can with-hold a constant 125 fps. To cap it at 125 in the BF2 Console you need to type "game.lockfps 125" (without the "").
Now press enter to send the command to BF2 console and now your FPS is capped at 125.

There's no point in restricting your max FPS below what you can actually achieve, if you really want a more constant frame rate turn on VSync (it'll make a lot more difference above 60fps anyway).
