Grappling hook!!!

Post by Dandy »

You have made Night vision availeble, so it should be possible to make a grappling hoke!!! It would be awesome since most kit's doesn't come whit para... You could use the grappling hoke for repelling.

I suggest that Assault should carry it, or if it's possible to make it that only squadleader gets it.

I don't know in wich army you have served but in the Swedish Army we do have rope for repelling from high buildings, and mountin edges. And it would suprise me if not USA one of the biggest armies in the world didn't use this method to.

Perhaps grappling hook aint used that much but they do excist, but what I want is a rope something like SF grappling hook that you push the mouse right button while standing close to an edge, then if you haven't noticed it he will drop it, sow you can use it for repelling, from Houses. Its a very cool feutres but it aint used much cause of the parashout.

Maybe in training soldiers climb ropes, but I doubt in the heat of battle a team will start pulling out their grapple hooks, hang onto the edge of he building and pull their immense weight up. It seems unrealistic, and I'm sure it'd lead to exploitation. Roof camping will be a worse problem as people will be able to access almost anywhere on the Battlefield.

British armoured infantry DEFINATELY use grapple hooks to climb into buildings. I think most of the British army uses them at copehill down right?

Apparently not. The PR modders claim the end user license agreement states that all expansions pack content is not to be added. You forget that the grappling hook is featured in Special Forces only, so players would need to buy SF to have it included or else have it coded entirely from scratch.

I need to see this EULA, it seems a bit odd how players are allowed to use the map Wake Island 2007 (added by patch) and not the SF or EF weapons (added by patch). Saying that though, the NAW mod breaks all rules and uses every single weapon put in the game. I'm surprised they haven't added the Euro Force weapons. I have a mini mod that converts the American weapons with EF, Chinese with Tier 1 and MEC with Tier 2, it's perfect for trying out weapons before getting an unlock. It would seem EF weapons were added in the 1.2 patch for some reason...

Just to clarify, as far as I know, we didn't copy or outright use SF's night vision. We ... emulated it... i think thats a good word. We did it in a similar, yet original way. Hence the bugs we haven't figured out how to fix yet.\

grapple hooks.... comon...

AWESOME!

How about adding a new Ninja Class?

/end sarcasm

On a more serious note I think the NV is a cool addition (along with night maps). Personally, there was a lot of cool stuff in SF (besides grapple) that I think would be very cool to see in PR.

Grapple hooks would only ever be issued to covert operations units and even then, only when they need it.

Not possible. EA tried it and failed. They could get it to work, it just got a bit flusterd on some areas of terrain.

America was a tad late into the First World War. They redeemed themself's and came in slightly sooner in the Second. Now they seem determined to start the Third.

with all that ninja capatilities this game shoul now be called Splinter Cell, starring Sam Fisher... althought i love all the games from that series i dont want this game to be like that. this game is supposed to be warfare. and that is how we should keep it, focusing on things we think are real and not things that are only "cool" to see. I'd love to see many things happen to this mod, like when someone hits you, for 2 or 3 seconds you are disoriented, and you arent enable to run or jump since you are injured. But even though there is only one thing that isnt real and i would like to see in prmm, i would like to know when i killed someone, and who it was. this is because most of the times i play with my clan i really like to say to them... ahhh ahhh i killed you.

But that isnt a priority, the priority is making this mod even more astonishing.. . day by day... release by release.

i thought that spec ops would have grapple hooks.......they could be deliverd to a particularly high building in urban areas and grapple down the opposite side of the biulding to where the baddys are spawning just another option for insertsion behind the enemy lines.....instead of (if un practicsed) inaccurate para jumps and HALO jumps whoch can end up with everyone slamming face first into the deck because they were a little slow puching 9

This is a quote from US Army Field Manual 3-06.11 Chapter 3:
3-10. USE OF GRAPPLING HOOK

The use of a grappling hook and rope to ascend into a building is not recommended. Experimentation and training has determined that using the grappling hook and rope to ascend is extremely difficult for the average soldier, and makes a unit more likely to fail their mission. Grappling hooks are still a viable tool for accomplishing the following tasks:
  • Clearing concertina or other tangle wire.
  • Clearing obstacles or barricades that may be booby trapped.
  • Descending to lower floors.

When it says "clearing" does that mean literally using the hook as a weapon to detonate bombs and rip concertina wire, or does it mean use it to bypass the traps? The descending to lower floors problem isn't really a huge one, there aren't many buildings in PR with multiple floors that that would apply to. Abseiling down roofs doesn't really apply, the way the grappling hook worked in SF was kinda unrealistic, it could latch onto anything. Real grappling hooks need to hook onto something sturdy.

I assume it means bypassing them.
