Well Like I've said if you really need that extra detail of reality to be able to play then I'm gonna put a well in the two villages but the problem is I think the lightmap would have to be redone and I don't know if thats really worth it. I mean Kashan is just ok the way it is. It's desert ... a 4 squarekilometers portion of a desert. Just imagine outside of the map there is maybe a village or a river and you can sleep again.

Re: Kashan and the sake of realism (and humor!)
Any PR maps with two airfields so close to each other just doesn't make sense. But what can you do, if you want two forces to have air assets, you need to have two airfields on the map.'J.Burton[EEF wrote:;1090778']IMO Kashan needs to be axed with the new wave of realistic maps coming through such as Sangin.
Although Kashan is a place, the map we play on ingame is simply unrealistic. I hate how it and others are simply just mirrored, so that if there's a airbase in the bottom left, there's also one in the top right. It's just a really caveman style of making maps. It also stupid how both teams have the same in the way of main-base layouts. I mean come on, if the US were invading a desert, they would not have such a base, it would be basic and hurried together, and the MEC base would be much more heavily fortified and better made.
Kashan get's a big thumbs down from me.
Kashan needs an update on the amount of assets in it though, too many imo. You end up with maybe one infantry squad, not even sometimes. Then it becomes almost vBF2 style gameplay.
I know it's just the "teams" fault for not getting infantry started, but when there are so many different assets you can't really blame them. No one wants to be infantry on a map where tanks will snipe you.

Re: Kashan and the sake of realism (and humor!)
i've always thought of Kashan to be like the western deserts of iraq- barren dusty wastes
its just missing certain things like camels, pizza hut, goats
i assume the abandoned villages were once populated by people Saddam didn't like and sent them westward.
and if enemy tanks are sniping you, then your team ain't playing it right, this map is a must for combined arms movement - leap frogging units, overwatch and air superiority and importantly Communication.

well thats just it... the villages seem a bit too perfect for abandoned villages.....
=/ like pots and stuff are sitting up... and since kashan has so LITTLE to begin with.. can we add a bit more detail to the village itself? Like teddy bears, picture frames, ruined furniture in the houses? It's like they just live on the floor with nothing... i mean sure it's abandoned.. but i doubt they could carry the big stuff in such a rush... theres just no detail in those houses...

No one wants to be an infantry squad if you get sniped by tanks. Especially when the map is filled with them.Ironfist7997 wrote:and if enemy tanks are sniping you, then your team ain't playing it right, this map is a must for combined arms movement - leap frogging units, overwatch and air superiority and importantly Communication.
And yes, if your tanks can't handle it, your pretty much screwed until CAS. But people get so angry they sometimes just quit if they can't do something, like little babies.
I'm just saying that the map has too many assets, tanks and APC's mostly. It discourages infantry, and limits them because so many damn assets people go nuts.

theres structures there because at one point the middle east used to be the trading center of the world, then there was this thing called the crusades and prettymuch everything leading up to the present day hasnt been so hot... theres structures there because millions of people live there and havnt got the financial or political power to leave. thats why you dont see tuskan raiders on dantooine.Expendable Grunt wrote:Then there are structures there...why?
Use *reason*. I know Ireland isn't known for it, but surely you have some.
I'd be willing to audit the map if I could get the build packages; I tried making my own via Rhino's tutorial but something always failed.

If i had my way, I would remove all tanks and air assets, and leave only APC's and light vehicles. Then its gonna be pure mechanized infantry map. Wouldn't that be awesome?
Infantry cooperating with APC's to go around the map and have fire support.

whats to say the factions have not travelled out to this said battlefield as a point of tactical advantage and supprised the enemy. I love and appreciate Kashan as it is. Its the perfect armour playground, and 0ne of the only maps that maps a very very good use of CAS, and the Commander.
Another large scale map containing all assets bringing about that feel I would one day lovvvveee to see!
Even if it wasnt at all that different in factions and vehicles. Just maybe different objectives and cosmetics.

Kashan is good as it is, it would be better if there is less AIR assets, only two tanks, one or two AA vih..
Mybe if u have this, we have more Infantry Role. If u get killed by tanks it normal in war, couse this is their point "Armour". Only problem is bed TEAMWORK, if tanks support troops, AIR support thanks, and AA cover AIR enemies should everything ok, even better with mumble speak. But only thing u see on map is: Air on N, tanks on S, infantry in middle and thare he goes "we need reinforcment", before thanks reach inf. they are already spawning in main. Everybuddy is in hurry to kill someone, then they die in about 3 min from start. In war things go slowely with a lot of thinking.
Next think u ll be wanting beside water in the middle of desert will be ALPS damn its desert in Iraq not Iran or Afganistan. Look on google earth.
I like this map a lot when is a good TEAMWORK.

kashan is one of the few combined arms maps we have. Therefore its a treasure and it would extremely stupid to alter the assets for it.Ca6e wrote:Kashan is good as it is, it would be better if there is less AIR assets, only two tanks, one or two AA vih..

This thread is about water, not what things blow up in the water
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

A little water wouldn't hurt, and some green, and the river should be going around the map, and then some streams branching off and going into the middle of the map, near North Base and South Base.

If you dont want to play kashan with armor or air there is a 16 layer version of it... and ive had squads take and keep the bunkers the entire game with just infantry, armor couldnt touch them.
