Things you hate in PR

Post by Nox. »

  • playing in Insurgency team - it basically just sucks the balls for me, no high-tech weapon, no scope, no heavy armor or air support, being the f*ckers I'd gladly shoot at in real life.. I know some people enjoy it but for me it's just a no-go and I don't ever play as insurgent and if the autobalance doesn't let me switch teams I just wait.
  • forest maps - walking 50 meters in 10 mins just to finally fall into an ambush made by some retard who has no life and enjoys waiting 45 mins in one spot = no fun at all. When the actual firefight begins it's fun and stuff but basically most maps of this kind aren't nice for me, like Fool's Road, Assault on Mestia or Ghost Train.
  • white silhoutette ( or whatever is the word, I probably misspelled ) - it's just severly retarded. And I say this also as a sniper.
  • in the distance gear dissapears - it's just superf*cking annoying that I've to bino almost every target in the distance to recognize if it's friendly or foe.
  • no no-zoom LMG deployed mode - how the f*ck is that any realistic that I have to look in the scope all the time when my bipod is in use.
  • headshot doesn't mean you're dead-dead - also shooting wounded doesn't kill. It was succesfuly implemented in Enemy Territory, while you could just approach wounded enemy on the ground and slice his throat with a knife and the enemy medic couldn't do anything. I mean how exactly does a medic treat sniper-headshot wound? Collect all the skull and brain fragments, put it all together into the half of the skull which is left, go some puzzle and hey, it works again?
  • small maps - let's be honest - it's not OFP or ARMA, you've your hands tight like in Counter-Strike. Field of battle is terribly limited, which isn't realistic at all.
  • fog - connects to the one above and the silho-something shit - I understand that no-fog maps would mean that snipers own anything but are we serious? That's why we have the armored personel carriers and tanks, to protect infantry from threats they can't handle themselves. Also, marksman should be finally fixed so it can work as a counter-sniper, not as a retarded rifleman.

If you don't like it go play something else. If you don't like something but still want to play try posting some contructive ideas on how to make it better, once you've got past the limit where you can post suggestions ofc...

Edit with responses:

    It can be very rewarding and enjoyable to play as an insurgent, especially on the better insurgency maps like Fallujah and Korengal. You don't have to have l33t gear to have a good time.

    Forest maps are great, all this is is a personal preference against trees and being ambushed. Perhaps you should try having some patience so you are the one ambushing and you'll have fun. If you have no patience stop playing PR. Now.
  • white silhoutette ( or whatever is the word, I probably misspelled ) - it's just severly retarded. And I say this also as a sniper.

    Assuming you are talking about the fact that when a player is silloueted against the sky he appears white, unfortuantely this is a BF2 thing.
  • in the distance gear dissapears - it's just superf*cking annoying that I've to bino almost every target in the distance to recognize if it's friendly or foe.

    Again BF2 engine. Deal with it and learn to ID your targets without having to see what weapon they are carrying.
  • no no-zoom LMG deployed mode - how the f*ck is that any realistic that I have to look in the scope all the time when my bipod is in use.

    The undeployed LMG is similarly accurate to deployed at ranges up to 75m.

    Re-suggestion. There have been a couple of threads on knifing dead bodies and it was rejected. Basically it is not something you would expect to see in modern warfare, and therefore will not be in PR. As for the headshots not killing instantly again refer to the numerous threads on this subject by using your search button.
  • small maps - let's be honest - it's not OFP or ARMA, you've your hands tight like in Counter-Strike. Field of battle is terribly limited, which isn't realistic at all.

    Not sure what you mean here. Do you want more small maps or more large maps? Either way the trend is towards larger maps as PR develops and this is the right way to go. The objective of PR is to produce realistic teamwork oriented gameplay with far more accesibility than ARMA 2 offers. For that we need larger maps.

    The fog is there so that people's computers don't break. If the fog were to be removed you would not be able to play the game on most maps on anything less than a beast of a computer. Simples.

    Secondly the designated marksman of an infantry squad is not a sniper and never has been. His role is to provide medium-long range fire support for his squad as opposed to a sniper who provides reconnaissance to his team as well as eliminating high value targets. The 2 are completely different.

* playing in Insurgency team
A matter of taste. The gamemode is needs balancing and stuff.

* forest maps
Again a matter of taste.

* white silhouette
Yes, they are annoying. Engine problem, sadly.

* in the distance gear dissapears
Again a problem with the engine. Check the map for friendlies in that direction, and if still unsure, well... zoom in. In doubt, don't shoot, just report the contact so the SL can take actions.

* no no-zoom LMG deployed mode
Cmon, you can't use the scoped rifles in a no-zoom mode either. Would take up way too many weapon slots and make unscoped weapons useless.

* headshot doesn't mean you're dead-dead - also shooting wounded doesn't kill
The headshot stuff was changed to prevent the "aim for the head" kind of shooting, dunno if it works out as desired.
Shooting wounded enemies would probably be against ROE.

* small maps
The Devs are working mainly on big maps, and will probably lose some smaller ones in the next versions I think.

* fog
no fog = most of the players can't play anymore because they don't have the newest super-computers.

Edit: Damn you, Jigsaw! Ninja'd me by a few seconds!^^

Hey I've got an idea Ozovich, why don't you show some bloody respect to the mappers and bugger off. Nobody cares if you don't like these things, they aren't going to change because somebody doesn't get things their way. I think maybe you should finish your homework and get a language check at the same time. Adding a f**k to every sentence doesn't make your point come across any better.

By the way, if your such a sadistic psychopath that you need to slit the throats/shoot of critically wounded soldiers, I would seek some serious help if I were you. Not to mention you would be put in jail for murder if you were caught doing this in real life as a soldier in a war zone. Oh, you could consider that my rant :D

Not much, PR is just awesome

. Civilian spawn time is way to long. Most of the time the Americans or British don't care who they shoot at

. Vista users are forced to play some graphics effects on medium to prevent crashes or extreme lag

Chill Ryza, having a go isn't going to change the way he thinks, he just needs to be educated on a few truths in PR. If he isn't gonna learn then that's his business and we should wish him well on 'nilla.

Meh, just textures on medium everything else in high not that there is any difference between medium and high textures anyway.

Just a point on your first rant, It's called Asymmetric warfare. Get used to it. You can still have a good time setting up ambushes, have a taste of both sides for once.

Guys, try not to be rude, Ozovich obviously doesn't like these aspects of PR, you guys may not agree(I don't at all) but being rude gets us nowhere. It's best to just leave this thread so it gets put to the realms of the general discussion board than replying angrily creating a flame war!

"Thing you hate in PR". It doesn't mean it's an objective list of thing to be changed. It's just personal taste.

And I like PR very much. Notice I put on the list only several things. 95% percent, the rest, is great.
your such a sadistic psychopath that you need to slit the throats/shoot of critically wounded soldiers
Well, if I enjoyed playing as an insurgent I'd whine why the heck I can't capture wounded American and cut his head off in front of the cameras for -100 US tickets. Think about this kind of action, chasing Talibs, who are fleeing with captured prisoner to execute him. Kingdom style. :)
Not to mention you would be put in jail for murder if you were caught doing this in real life as a soldier in a war zone.
I'm allowed to engage if the enemy poses a threat to myself or my team in my opinion. Wounded talib terrorist woud tend to probably blow himself up before dying so yeah. Shoot until killed.

Anyway, what's up with all this hate? You go mad because someone dares to say he doesn't absolutely and unconditionally love your favorite mod? Get some melisa.

Things I hate:
  • Players who whine about everything they don't like or agree with.
  • Players who whine on the forums about everything they don't like or agree with.
  • Players who whine on the forums with censored language in every sentence about everything they don't like or agree with.
  • Those pesky [R-DEV]'s that dont listen to what I want in THEIR mod. :razz:
  • Skirmish maps. :) (dont tell Space :D )
You were recieved with hate and rants because you came on to the forums and ranted about everything you don't like about a FREE mod that is YOUR CHOICE to download.

Im going to be as nice as I can because mostly I agree with 75% of what you said... and sadly for you and me, we'll have to wait for PR2... because everything you have problems[that i agree with] isnt really possible to overcome on the BF2 engine....

Its not a matter of us wanting a white silhouette or fog on maps, or small maps, or fewer options on when to look in the scope and when to use backup ironsights... its something called Hardcoded/really really hard to find fixes for ;)

If it honestly poses that much of a problem, maybe PR1 isnt for you, but I would hope I can assure you PR2 WILL ;)

I dont mean that being an ***, I simply mean, those things you find unrealistic, really, just cant be fixed ;)

Ozvich, Just to let you know. there have been other threads pretty much, exactly like this one. so its only natural people find it irritating to see another thread such as this. but i understand why you made the thread so im not flameing you. however if i do mention things i dont like about the mod i like to back it up with positive aspects as well. problem is, the only things that do in fact irritate me about the game are actually unchangable parts.

like, having to use a grapple hook because there isnt a better way of getting onto things that require a conventional means such as a ladder. thats one. i also dont like the vehicle damage system. but you cant change that in BF2, its designed so that when the vehicle takes a hit, a percentage is knocked off. you cant have the vehicle lose wheels and stop individual parts from working, it just doesnt work that way in BF2. i dont like the fact that you cant put in realistic tracers without sacrificing other things. i dont like the ragdoll system, and i wish there were ways of fragmentation on vehicles and players, but sadly these things are core parts of BF2 that cant be changed.

so as you can see, the major parts of the mod are very much inhibited by the game on which the mod is based on. and like Okita said, you'll have to wait for PR2 which will have it's own core game system that will be completely changeable. if there is a problem somwhere a person will simply be able to change it.
Its gotten to the point that i can see very clearly that the developer team have gone pretty much as far as they can with adjusting the values of things and introducing python code. and now really the only things that they can place in the game are more factions, weapons, maps and dynamic objects, because adjusting the other aspects requires some heavy asthetic thinking and usually the big groundbreaking ideas are few and far between. :)

so heres the positive thing. the main thing i dont like about Project Reality, is that it is on the Battlefield 2 engine, and soon that wont be a problem, and the most realistic game in the world will become much more realistic.

If I would say one thing, it's that the Deviation, since when you do you "wait" to take a shot? Yes it's there to simulate the effects of about to firing, but Ballistics are soooo much better imo
