Vista loading trouble

Ok i have a fried trying ti install PR but when he clicks on the Core file it runs but does not show up. Like he can check is task manneger and see it there but it wont show up on his desktop. He tryed runnig as admin still did not work. What could be wrong? Could this be cause he has the 1.5 patch installed?

PR doesnt support the 1.5 patch just the 1.41 patch.
