I'm buying a laptop and was wondering how well it will play pr
Graphics Card 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330
RAM 4GB
Hard Drive 250GB
Processor Intel® Pentium® Dual Core T4200 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/1MB cache)
32-bit Vista Home Premium
I'm mainly concerned with the graphics card and processor
Thanks
Edit: I was also wondering if I should get 64-bit OS or 332-bit OS, if I keep the 32-bit shouldn't i get the 3gb of ram?

You should make a post in the Reality Mod Tech Support section of the forums, located near the bottom of the main page. You'll get some more focused info than just in the general discussion.
As far as the actual system goes it should run PR on low/medium graphics with no problems at all but don't expect anything incredible and be prepared for some lag on one or two of the newest maps like West Fallujah and Korengal Valley.
I would strongly suggest that if you really want to have a trouble free game that looks great that you should buy a desktop rather than a laptop. Im guessing that you'll be paying something like £600-£700 for that kind of laptop but believe me if you were to put that into a desktop you would get a far superior system. For an example see here. You would ofc have to buy a screen as well but even then the results will be far superior.
On the OS front the difference between the performance of a 32bit and 64bit OS with 4gig of RAM is actually pretty much negligible.

I got roughly the same laptop, got the same graphics card, slightly faster CPU (T6670) and 3GB RAM. I can play Rainbow Six Vegas 2 with fairly well graphics.darklord63 wrote:Graphics Card 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330

I play PR on 64 bit with 4gb ram, and it works like a charm maxed out, and I can still record with fraps, still having decent FPS.darklord63 wrote: Edit: I was also wondering if I should get 64-bit OS or 332-bit OS, if I keep the 32-bit shouldn't i get the 3gb of ram?

With all due respect, but it won't help the TS posting these specs.jbgeezer wrote:I play PR on 64 bit with 4gb ram, and it works like a charm maxed out, and I can still record with fraps, still having decent FPS.

A) The T4200 is in no way comparable with the Q8200 you have.
B) A Geforce 9600GT desktop version is in no way comparable with a HD 4330
I would recommend getting 64 bit OS, so you can make full use of the 4GB's there are in that laptop.

Re: I'm buying a laptop and was wondering how well it will play pr
I play with this:
Marque : MSI
Gamme : Intel Core 2 Duo
Modèle : P8600
Fréquence : 2,4 GHz
Installée : 4 Go
Taille : 17 "
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
Espace total : 320 Go
Poids : 3,2 Kg
I am very very happy; my only problem is playing on a 17" screen where I think most people use alot bigger

Guys, this is about a LAPTOP. NOT A DESKTOP. Talking about your GPU's and CPU's ain't gonna help him discover if his laptop is powerful enough. No offense, but its true.
P.S. You should not notice much of a difference between 3GB and 4GB of ram, so 32bit or 64bit doesn't make much of a difference. However, if you are going to get Windows 7, there is no need to NOT get the 64bit version.

Re: I'm buying a laptop and was wondering how well it will play pr
Ok well here's the lowdown on your specs :
Graphics Card 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 - Fairly good , ATI Mobile chips are pretty good , 256 can run the game on high with the 4gb rams .
RAM 4GB - Perfect !
Hard Drive 250GB - More than enough for a laptop
Processor Intel® Pentium® Dual Core T4200 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/1MB cache) - Aint that good bro , you need something better than that , the 1mb cache is too low ! Plus the Dual Core is getting old .
Go to Dell and check their laptops , they are the best ! i have a Dell XPS M1530 and those are the specs :
Core 2 Duo 2.1Ghz 2mb cache (cache aint that good but still fair)
4GB Ram
Nvidia 8600M GT (256Mb) but its acts as a shared memory , with the 4gb ram its really good !
250GB Hard Drive
Im running PR on high with 8x AA with around 80 to 100 FPS
My advice try finding another laptop with a price range abit higher than the one your gonna spend on right now !
Good luck

The T4200 will do perfectly well for games like BF2. Don't expect miracles out of it, but it's good enough for older games.Bullet Rush wrote: Processor Intel® Pentium® Dual Core T4200 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/1MB cache) - Aint that good bro , you need something better than that , the 1mb cache is too low ! "I play PR on 64 bit with 4gb ram", that was what I initially started my post with. Thats what he asked for too, "will PR run good on 64bit?" I just added my specs, pretty much for fun.MonkeySoldier wrote:With all due respect, but it won't help the TS posting these specs.

Yes, but the specs of your laptop and the specs of the laptop the TS is looking at, are in no way comparable, so I don't really understand why you posted them. I also can't recall anywhere from tuforkeymeister's post that he aimed his post at you, I think it was aimed at jbgeezer.PLODDITHANLEY wrote:tofurkey mine IS a portable
No, he didn't asked for whether PR will run good on 64 bit or not, he (I assume you're a he?jbgeezer wrote:"I play PR on 64 bit with 4gb ram", that was what I initially started my post with. Thats what he asked for too, "will PR run good on 64bit?" I just added my specs, pretty much for fun.

Silly me thinking that I play with a portable, seeing my system in good with PR he might be able to compare with what he's thinking about getting.
Just trying to help Monkkeysoldier keep calm mate.

First of all, I'm always calm. So are my replies, I couldn't find any aggression, anger or something like that in my posts in this topic.PLODDITHANLEY wrote:I'm buying a laptop and was wondering how well it will play pr

Secondly, you seem to have missed my point in my last post. The specs of your laptop and the specs of the laptop the TS had in mind are in no way comparable. That means there's quite a price difference between such laptops. If the TS wanted to put more money in a laptop, he would have picked a laptop with better specs. That's my point, you can't compare those two. There's a big difference in both pricing and performance.

Re: I'm buying a laptop and was wondering how well it will play pr
it doesnt matter what laptop you get its got to be better than my desktop
your laptop has the capability to run games better than my desktop considering i only got 200gb hard disk space, 1 gb of ram and ATI raedon x1550 graphics card that went out of production a week after i got it in 2005 -.- .
gunna be on a new 4gb ram, 300gb hard disk space with ATI raedon 4350 HD <- (that right?) before christmas

Re: I'm buying a laptop and was wondering how well it will play pr
well all I can say is update the drivers frequently I had an asus laptop cant remeber the full specs but summat like graphics was like an x1400 and like 2.6 cpu dual core and it was forever crashing due to the drivers being out dated but this was back when i new nothing about computers.
