Faction specific lazier box

Post by Oddsodz »

So this is an idea to stop accidental team kills from aircraft bombs/missiles that are for the most part not the pilots fault.

Right now we have just one lazier system for all Factions. And for the smart ones that know how to use the GTLD. It is very easy to make the OP4 aircraft team kill there own team. It is something that I myself have perfected (The trick is the laze the ground beside the target and hope that the OP4 team drop a bomb on it).

I Wish to see this removed. I Propose that MEC get a sphere marker that only MEC bombs can lock on too. Brits/USA get the normal green square and the PLA get a triangle.

This will stop the "counter Lazing trick" that I invented. As a bomb in transit can and most likely will switch from it's intended target to a new lazier box in it's flight path.

I Know in theory it can be done. But the work to do it will (I Think) mean that 3 new weapons (new versions of GTLD's) will need to be made as well as changes to the bombs/missiles on Faction specific aircraft.

Oh and I forgot about future Russian aircraft so that is 4 new weapons.

I Don't know about real life lazier targeting systems. But I am sure there is some way of stopping friendly bombs/missiles hitting OP4 lazier targets.

What do you think?

Is not PR near future based? And so can be done according to lore?

I agree but for a different reason.

I don't like it when lazes are being used to identify targets to other SLs, or that you can see who is getting lazed by others.

I think most people need to be able to see their laze to know when its expired and if they actually hit the target with the laze (since its not moving at lightspeed) But if there is a way to remove the ability to see other people's lazes, I think it would be good.

and tbh I think I can live without being able to see my own lazes as I only generally laze just before the CAS arrives.

Are you sure? I thought the lasers were shot in encrypted patterns. (Not a joke, even though it sounds stupid)

Not possible to do afaik. You have heat and laser, thats it, which are the same for everyone unless vehicle is occupied.

Ah pants. I Was hoping that there was some sort of viable that could be changed to make it "Faction specific". IE the colour or shape. And I don't mean for GUI/HUD reasons.

No. That does not happen right now. You can not do that. The lazed Abrams can not be targeted by the A-10 at that point. But if you laze the ground beside the Abrams. An "A-10" can lock and drop a bomb on to the MEC "Neutral" lazier box. And it will TK the Abrams due to it beaning so close.

Ask L8gi about it as you are CATA. It was me that showed him how to do it. (Silly me)

It's still hilarious. Especially when you stop an enemy's assault by using the enemy's CAS ;)

However, If you were to clone the GTLD for each class and give them a new Icon for the laze surely this could be done? Even if only SL's could see it, they could call off CAS. (Just theory, I actually like it as it is.)

No, because as I said you have heat and laser target objects to work with. You can make the hud look like you want but the laser is there, and the laser is there for everyone.
