Small IED's?

Post by crazyivan »

Why are IED's so small? I mean they're like 3 times+ smaller than C4 and yet it seems to me they make the same kinda size explosion. I like the look with the mobile and all, however maybe an old artillery round or something would look and feel more realistic.

As a pickup kit (so he isn't going to show a screenshot of the normal IED).

I also think the IED looks pretty tiny, and would benefit fromseems oversized but I think they are still using the original mesh if they reskinned it.

These certainly are small but with all the technological advances of the US army how can the insurgents have a smaller explosives device than the American C-4 which both seem to create the same amount of damage...

Guess it's just good for game-play to have them small and hard to see since you cant hide them below the surface

The demolition charge in PR is currently not modeled after the normal charge used. From what I understand, it's a place-holder until the proper one can be made (low priority).

IED's come in all shapes and sizes. Obviously, the larger the charge then the longer it's going to take to bury it. In the game you are setting up a device in a short amount of time. If we start adding bigger IED's, then we'll need to start increasing the deploy times to scale with it. You want to sit there for 30 seconds digging a hole?

I think the IED's in game are fine as they are now. If used correctly they can do a lot of damage. Don't forget that real vehicles are now being made to withstand the effects of IED's, so even a big one will do little damage.

Just for comparison, the "real" C-4 charge that will hopefully replace the one in game now is the M112 Demolition Charge. For size comparison, the image below shows a bunch of them scattered around the rest of the ordnance. You can see the linked 40mm rounds in the bottom-left of the image to compare easily.

Yer fair enough its low priority, good image, would be sick to see the replacement of current satchel charge.
