he said "undeployed mode" , what dose the current "undeployed mode" do in game? it allows the SAW to have a CQB mode by 'shouldering' the thing. so im assuming he wants that same CQB mode for the scoped rifles in game by replacing the knife. which IMO is a good idea

To be honest not zooming in (no-scoped) should be the undeployed mode as per normal, soldiers don't walk around without their rifles doing that in a combat situation anyway do they?

SL lacks for weapon slots.
So its better to decrease minimum deviation. Then we can shoot like "undeployed" SAW by just unscoping your rifle.

Nowaday SAW absolutely owns rifle in close combat due to its "undeployed". Unrealistic.

Why rifle cant be "shouldered" like SAW?

That would make sense but unfortunately you'd get people solely running around with the pistol out rather than their primary weapon.

Remove the knife is what rudd suggests, so you would have the slots.

Pistol is pure win, just last night (Virginia Muttrah) I out CQB'ed two MECs with their MP5's....
Makes the officer kit IMHO the best on Muttrah, but only two mags sniff sniff.
But of course with pistols everywhere it would get very silly very quick, anyone got a ten mag patch for the 9mm?

Real soldier's have Knives...

Knifes can be used for Stealth attacks - when a Player is knifed their immediate thought isn't "Omg I got knifed" it's just "Wtf just happened? I just died! Guys there's either a sniper or something around" (That'd be if head shot's kill, so that if you die you don't automatically assume it's a knife) and in that time the rest of the squad who knifed him is in their position.

Knives's shouldn't be removed (and if everyone has a Pistol it'll be Unrealistic + be more like Vanilla) because that'd be unrealistic, and tbh the Undeployed rifle thing is a load of BS imho - all we need to do is remove the zoom of the Undeployed LMGs and replace it with nothign except massive deviation (If you haven't noticed you can't run around firing perfect shots with a SAW from the hip!)

don't think i understand this but are you suggesting to make undeployed have loads of deviation, thus making it pointless?

no. he means deviation of "undeployed" is too stable when you are moving, go prone, firing whole mag.......

I'm just saying that the undeployed mode is unrealistic - it has basically no deviation, and can easily kill something up close, making the LMGs god of all the battle fields, therefore making rifles utterly pointless.

consider yourselves warned.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

dtacs wrote:A stupid idea. Soldiers have access to knives, it is unrealistic to remove it.

Simply removing it because 'people aren't using it as a last resort' is idiotic.

To be honest, if the AK bayonet and sheath can be used to cut electrical wires IRL, it should be able to, after a few goes, remove the wire, but the tank traps stay up.
Seriously i would love seen you try to stab me trought my STRIKE FACE LVL3 plate in my Frag vest with you're damn knife... Seriously.

dtacs wrote:Mind backing that up with a reason?
Yeah, you're physicly not strong enought to do so.
[R-DEV]Ninja2dan wrote:Not all soldiers carry a bayonet, although most will carry something even in the form of a multi-tool. These are rarely used for personal defense though, this isn't WWII.

Totaly agreed on this one. Especialy since we all wear protection gear.
[R-DEV]Ninja2dan wrote: No soldier in his right mind would use his bayonet to remove any IED/UXO. While some soldiers might probe for mines with their bayonet or other similar object, they do NOT remove or disarm them by cutting wires or tampering with them. If an IED/UXO is located, you move to a safe distance and detonate it safely, or move it to a safe blasting area or place it in a containment canister.
I said that to make the knife look more realistic, since we use it as a tool for trap and mine finding
'[R-DEV wrote:Ninja2dan;1226669']

My opinion is that the bayonet really has no need on the modern battlefield of PR. While it could save your life in a real war, the fact is that people rarely ever run out of ammunition in a PR match prior to either respawning or finding a resupply point. If the bayonet stays, no big deal. Players need to stop doing stupid shit they used to do in vanilla, like running around with a knife in their hand thinking they are Rambo.

Unless you are fully out of ammunition and are stupid or unfortunate enough not to have friendlies supporting you, then you have no reason to be using a knife/bayonet. If it was up to me, I'd code it so that anyone taking out their knife with even a single bullet left would die instantly. Then their corpse would be tea-bagged, raped by rabid baboons, then tea-bagged again by those baboons.

Agreed on this one.

People seems to think that we use knife to kill people, well, sorry to be the one who told you that, but no, we dont use knife in that purpose. Even Bayonet... Its pointless, you will be dead way before you reach the guy. Soldier are not 1337 ub3r JTF2SEALSSAS.

Wrong.

You can think of stealth kills with the knife as going for the neck, no soldier in their right mind would stab someone by doing it into body armor or through magazine pouches.

Like I said, noone is going to stab through kevlar or through mag pouches.

Also you're forgetting that the Chechens, Taliban, and Insurgents all don't have any body armor.

Stabbing a person without any form of protection around their torso? Unless they're wolverines immediate family I'm sure 'I' would have no problem.

My benchmade D2 Tanto would make easy work of any piece of your uniform that doesn't have a ceramic/metal plate behind it, which is all down your side and near the base of your neck, both of which can easily by exploited to deliver kill blows.

Exactly, nice knife too.

Plus you don't have eyes in the back of your head, in PR and IRL.

IRL you're never alone, you're with you're fireteam partner, you're squad, you're troops or you're platoon.

I got plate on the side, the front and the back. + My mag + all my gear. Ofcourse you always can stab me in the face or the neck, if you manage you're way to me super super stealthy, wich is more than likely not feasable. ;) Even in the sand you can ear somone walking.

And Army teach us to reload rather than rush somone with knife.

Lets say you manage you're way to me, then you try to stab me, we start figthing, the noise alert my buddies, and they will shoot you. Result : you injure me, but you end up loaded with 5.56mm in you're body ;)

Of course Taliban dont wear body armor, but i dont imagine myself, running trought all sort of terrain just to stab him when i can reload aim and shoot.

Anyway i'm tired of arguin, you dont use knife for kill people, its a TOOL thats is, thats all. Dont beleive me ? then join the army.

This is a game, not reality, stop using it as an excuse. Although reality plays a major part, some things just can't be dealt with.

Urban situations, the village on Archer.

Around a corner in Ramiel.

Hiding in the grass on OGT, Seven Gates, Fools road hell I could go on forever with examples where a knife is awesome, and regardless of your gear, without knowledge of the guy behind you about to end your life makes it redundant.
And Army teach us to reload rather than rush somone with knife.
'Oh fiddlesticks theres a guy who is also out of ammunition and rushing at me in a close quarter situation, instead of pulling my M9 out of its readily available sheath, I'll reload in front of him'

Injure you? A stab wound to the face or neck guarantees you aren't getting up mate, enjoy blood loss and our great friend shock.

You're missing the point, we don't go hither and thither just to get a knife kill,we do it in close quarter situations or when we have the ability to because we know that the enemy will not be getting back up, regardless of whether he has a medic or not.

Plus with the abolition of rally points, you know hes going to have to walk for quite awhile to get back to his squad, which, if done right, you've all knifed as well.

Also, if they are only tools, why does the Australian Army and the USMC still train with them?
