The Guide button at the top of the page is there for a reason - I'm not sure what it is though :D

Maybe we will get the long awaited super guide with 0.9?

Well I dont think it would hurt to have:

A. A place for new players to ask questions (If you don't like the fact that players may sometimes ask about things in the manual / just don't want to read it front to back then don't bother to check the section)

B. A place for new players to ask about things they are curious about that isn't talked about a great deal in the manual

C. A place for new players to find and meet a more experienced player who would be willing to act as a mentor/tutor

I like this idea, it's actually the only good suggestion I've seen outside of the "Suggestions" forum...

General Discussion "General discussion of the Project Reality modification."

People're always asking questions in this section, more separation and sub-forums will confuse the people that can't seem to find the 'Tech' or 'Bugs' sections as it is. Once the guide is up, people will be more in the know.

the manual is extreamly long.. if there was a short version, that gave some simple basics, and refered back to the normal manual as much as possible, i think more would read the manual

When i buy a game, it comes with a manual. generally this shows you about the controls and hud.
i DID not read the manual thinking PR's was the same.. after a few weeks i read it and my gameplay improved so much from it..

i think the 'manual' should be at least renamed 'pr guide' or create the new player forums as this would have helped me so much when i started.

Just a section similar to that. Somewhere for people to ask questions and get help that isnt the general discussion. IMO people shouldn't have to go to general discussion to ask questions because I think it clogs up the section...

If you dont believe me just take a look at 7 out of the 20 current active topics:

-"airplane bombing questions"
-"Question about Mumble"
-"Beginners Help"
-"0.9 Teaser?"
-"Question, Silent Eagle, Para Drop"
-"New Player to PR"
-"Looking for flying tips."

I know some of those are out of place and shouldn't have been asked in the first place but heck that doesn't mean we can't have somewhere to move threads to that are only applicable to player help... Also if I were a new player I think I would have enough sense to ask a question in a "New Player Help and Questions" section (Not everyone is dumb).

I would venture to say that people dont ask gameplay or general help questions in the 'Tech' or 'Bugs' Sections because the questions have absolutely nothing to do with tech or bugs?

Mind of a n00b:

Golly gee ive got a question about firebases where should I post...

-Discussion? Hm doesnt sound right
-Suggestions? Maybe but still a bit off
-Bugs? Not really a bug...
-Tales from the front? Not really good at tellin stories...
-Community Modding? wtf is that?
-Reality Mod Tech Support? not really looking for tech support here...
-Guide Button? Why aint this workin...

Eh whatever I'll just post in general discussion I'm sure a lot of people will see it...

This is an exciting and brillant post! It goes along the lines of some of the griping and the better suggestions we see in these forums. I hope the forum moderators give this one some serious thought, please!

Disagree. The manual is as long as it is, because it needs to be. Either one is motivated to read it.....or not. Simple.

this is a great and wonderful development if it get implemented.

The PR community comes off very harsh and impatient in general. this would be a great way to nuture the newbs.

so let them come with their questions ,quandaries and riddles! for we can have a section for them all !

There are some on the forum (myself include) who actually love to mentor and help new players very directly. I would love answering questions there and working with players in game (even if its stuff in the manual)

I thought there was an FAQ section, it seems strange that there isn't. Good thinking.

This idea has my support. I think this would cut back on flaming and some of the attitude that people have towards posters who post a question with an obvious answer.

I am in complete favor of the OP's idea.

I agree with the OP as well, good to give nubs a place to ask questions without the entire forum being pissed at them.
