I basically want to ask the General Public on this topic.

I know we've talked about this before but I want to ask the General Public a few questions. I have my own opinions but I'm curious to the rest of yours. Anyway. Although the leaders of any PR-League (PRL) Produced has been unsuccessful by a good mile, I can only ask why.

1) With all the players in the PR Community, how many people would actually go to another -site as this one shown.
2) What do you feel personally were flaws or things you did not like about any Verison or PRL presented.
3) If a site was running and had a basic work concept flow, would you use it.
4) What are your feelings of a PRL
5) What are suggestions for creating an area on where Clan leaders or Players, can communicate with each other with ease of access to start a scrim or play together, etc.


Reason being I went to click on the PR League button on the Homepage of Project Reality : Battlefield 2 Mod and the URL was disabled.

I thought it was a good concept.

I don't know why it went wrong with the PRL. I offered to do it when Bludshot asked for new people to run it last spring, but only if the format could be changed slightly to make it work. In the end it was handed over to Wookie, and then the only posts I saw were about website problems - plus the website looked terrible despite wookies clan website being really good.

Reality Teamwork is at the early stages of developing a competition, possibly with cash prizes - it wont exactly be a clan league, but it will be similar, and some of the ideas for it should make it very popular. I doubt we will have anything to announce until a month or so after 0.9.

The theory is there, just the guys that always run it do it in a pointless way, that is usually completely different to any other FPS :/

I will present a deeper analysis at a later time but for the moment let me say that the flaw in any organisation is it's own inability to satisfy all who want to partake.

How to go about it? Offer levels of participation. The PRL did that to some degree.

Lvl 1, facilitate clanwars
Lvl 2, facilitate open league teams
Lvl 3, facilitate instant gaming fun - see below.

Lvl 3 explanation: if we pretend being a new player, or one who is unaffiliated with clans. How can he be attracted to the league? Join forums, recruit a team etc? Yeah. But how about a calender-pool function? I am available at this and this time and on this and this server, signup by server or by friend? Wire that into xfire to provide live info on where the dude is playing...you see my point? Getting them onto the site, into the swing of things, making the site "alive" will draw more. Daily.

Add functions to signup in a volunteer pool of soldier recruits for those who want to form teams to draw from, then you have a logical step from coming in as a unaffiliated to affiliated with a team?

Fred, our ersatz average gamer in PR logs onto the new site.

"Cool, I can signup when I want to game and find more ppl!" He signs up for the following week on three nights. Slowly he begins to find people he likes gaming with on public or the server run by the site itself. Bonding.

"Hey, I want more organized gameplay." So he asks his friends if they want to form a team, some say no, some say yes but hey, there's the recruit pool to draw from.

He creates his team with all the bits and bobs. The league provides and monitors the challenge system, the reliabilty rating of the teams, etc.

PR, connecting people!

If you make a organisation easy enough to get into and up & running, it will continue to attract people.


So, now back to solving world peace through domination of economy...ie, inventory management...

I think that major reason why PRL lost interest is the necessity of external website, registration and so on. It would be really cool if PRL could be somehow implemented into main PR forums.

there is what aquiller said. Also there are a lack of clans of decent size for consistent 32v32 battles.

I think it also had a 12v12 also? I think there are only a good 6-8 Clans that can field a 32 man team (excluding coalition teams).

Would be nice to get this going again, the website had a lot signed up on it but it never seemed to get off the ground. If smaller clans formed coalitions then I think we could have a large pool of 32 teams and have a decent league.

IMO it's really that easy. Pr is purely 32v32. It became this sometime after the releases 0.5, when PR stepped away from being a BF2minimod with cooler weapons and started to become a game of it's own. Which just happens to also be when PRL died, it went from high activity to no activity it a matter of no-time.
The clan thing PRL offered, is so close to the BF2 experience you might as well play BF2.
If there was a demand for PRL, it would have manifested itself a long time ago.

Theres demand for a lot of things in PR which only manifest themselves when someone steps up to do it. The feedback I've got for the Reality Teamwork competition has been 100% positive, but we plan for more of an elimination tournament than a league ( though it will have a league aspect to it).

If the PRL is ran in the same format as it has in the past, then its almost guaranteed to fail.

Feel free to prove me wrong, i'm no oracle just speaking how i see/saw it.
If you by format mean <64 players i agree, but then you got very few actors. If you mean 'trivial' matters as organization/ladder system points rankings etc, i don't think there will be much interest. In a span more then the two first weeks.
In addition, you got PRT filling the needs of the most hardcore of you.
But by all means, i have nothing against the idea. Go ahead.

Well, I was talking with the ClanBase crew to start a PR ladder, but it didn't really start a spark. We tried a FH2 ladder, but didn't last long.

And Gaz told me something was in the plans....

We have some plans centrally, which should take shape in a few weeks after 0.9. Nothing in stone yet however.

I am a total noob when it comes to clans... But for the 32 vs 32 different teams could be made with different clans in them. Of corse the communication should be good

If there is honest and I mean HONEST reason to actually get a PR Ladder or League set up I would get running on it. Getting resources is easy and fundamentals are not hard. Setting up a PR-League is somewhat easy once you establish a simple, effective system that mainly and more or less supports the smaller Clans.

But I want to see where the public stands on the entire PR-L Concept. How should it run, What are the simple methods of doing it, and are people willing to use it.

I will NOT be using stupid sites that look all glamerous and shit. I am looking for an effective forums where players can Communicate and transfer xfire tags or set up matches, and to create Community wide competitions.

All something if people want to work with me, I'm 100% for doing. But nothing would start rolling until after v0.9

Sure there are a 6-8 clans that could field this many, but how often will 32 people be available? How often will these battles happen? Once a month? Putting 32v32 as the main focus would really take the ladder away from the majority of players, a better idea could be 8v8 or 12v12 skirmishes, we have the maps, people could organise teams with there mates without having to form a clan etc etc.

The list of clans able to produce a full 32v32 game is nearly Impossible. Only a few COMMUNITIES are capable. Now forming alliances is something I am Always for. That way forming 32v32s are possible.

But if anything, the PR-L would be based on smaller clans, 8v8, 12v12, and 20v20. Something almost 90%of full working clans are able to produce
