System Specifications
  • Operating System : Windows XP SP3
  • CPU : Athlon 64 X2 5800+
  • Graphics Card : GeForce 7600GS
  • Amount of RAM : 3072MB Physical, (I feel it is worth noting I have assigned 10GB as pagefile/virtual memory)
  • Sound Card : Onboard (Model number unknown, manufactured by Via)
BF2 Graphics Settings
  • Resolution : 1024x768@70hz
  • Terrain : High
  • Effects : Low
  • Geometry : High
  • Texture : High
  • Lighting : Low
  • Dynamic Shadows : Off
  • Dynamic Light : Off
  • Anti-Aliasing : Off
  • Texture Filtering : High

1. Have you noticed a significant performance decrease from 0.87 -> 0.9?
Yes.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your performance in 0.9.
7

3. Name three or more maps in 0.9 which result in the worst performance.
Qwai River (25FPS drop, now runs around 15FPS)
Yamalia (Average of 25FPS)

4. From the maps mentioned above, state which specific areas/directions affect your performance the most.
Qwai presents the drop whenever I scope in with zoom.
Yamalia presents the occasional staggering drop of 20+ FPS when I am coming in for a landing. Right about 200-100 meters off the ground there is sometimes a burst in which my game locks up, unlocking just in time to make a hot landing.

5. Name any maps that you have no performance issues with.
Silent Eagle runs better than Kashan does for me. It is also far prettier

Please note at this time I have only participated in:
Asad Khal
Qwai River
Yamalia
Beruit
Silent Eagle.
I will attempt to update this post later
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Graphics Card : NVidia GeForce 9600 GT
Amount of RAM : 2 GB
Sound Card : Part of my motherboard

Texture : High
Lighting : Medium
Dynamic Shadows : Medium
Dynamic Light : Medium
Anti-Aliasing : Off
Texture Filtering : Medium

1. Have you noticed a significant performance decrease from 0.87 -> 0.9?

Cant tell you, never played and older version.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your performance in 0.9.

Fluctuates from a 10 (assuming thats when it's perfectly fine) to a 2 or 3 in some areas, others it would be a bit better, but nevertheless make it unplayable.

3. Name three or more maps in 0.9 which result in the worst performance.

Fallujah West, Iron Ridge, can't remember another.

4. From the maps mentioned above, state which specific areas/directions affect your performance the most.

In Fallujah West, I was slowing down pretty much everywhere. In Iron Ridge, I'd get the occasional performance drop, but it got unplayable around the apartment complex.

5. Name any maps that you have no performance issues with.

Muttrah City, and the only other I can remember, is the one where the militi group is assaulting some sort of port defended by the British.

1. Have you noticed a significant performance decrease from 0.87 -> 0.9?

Yes, I could run all maps in 0.87 at a comfortable 40-60 Fps (never went under 30 on any map) All the new maps I have played so far on 64 versions have put my 25fps and under most of the time, if even that.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your performance in 0.9.

6.5

3. Name three or more maps in 0.9 which result in the worst performance.

Dragonfly
Beirut
Lashkar

Yamailia

4. From the maps mentioned above, state which specific areas/directions affect your performance the most.
Dragonfly - The city, is like a slideshow for me but anywhere outside of it ( north fields etc) I get 35fps..
Beirut - Anywhere in the East side of the city I get a big FPS drop, although playable at 25fps.
Yamalia - Seems a lot more stable, just inside the tall grass looking through it Fps drops down to about 10, 60 when looking directly at the sky or floor..

5. Name any maps that you have no performance issues with.
Most of the .87 maps that I have played so far ( yet to try Fallujah)

1. Have you noticed a significant performance decrease from 0.87 -> 0.9?

Yes. Ping increase, fps drop and laggy gameplay.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your performance in 0.9.

5. Weird CTD's sometimes.

3. Name three or more maps in 0.9 which result in the worst performance.

Beirut = I deploy, and when load finishes, goes to Desktop. Couldnt play at those settings however, when i change texture to medium and the AA to 4x, problem solved for that map.

Dragon Fly : When i get into game, computer freezes completely and i had to restart it manually.

Gaza, Crashes sometimes.

4. From the maps mentioned above, state which specific areas/directions affect your performance the most.

Couldnt even see the Dragonfly but Beirut gets a bit laggy at city areas.

5. Name any maps that you have no performance issues with.

Silent Eagle, Lashkar, Yamalia maybe.

1. Have you noticed a significant performance decrease from 0.87 -> 0.9?
No I have not at all, in fact It seems to actually run better.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your performance in 0.9.
9 1/2

3. Name three or more maps in 0.9 which result in the worst performance.
Korengal valley, Iron ridge, that's it.

4. From the maps mentioned above, state which specific areas/directions affect your performance the most.

When I face to the north toward players is when I get the worst perfomance but i eventually clears up.

On I side note: I had to turn all my settings to medium because I kept CTD, but now that my settings are on medium no more CTD but I still get that performance drop on those maps when facing north although as I stated it eventually clears up.

Iron Ridge - everywhere, constant fps drops.

5. Name any maps that you have no performance issues with.
Quai River (the only pre 0.9 map I've played so far)

Comment:
Ofcourse I change the settings to lower with 0.9, but having different settings doesn't make a good comparison.

Switching from "Creative X-Fi" to "Hardware"(this also means quality goes from Very High to High)
sound setting added 10fps to the minimum fps.
Note that keeping "Creative X-Fi" and changing to High quality didn't gain near as much.

Silent Eagle seems as complex as the other maps, no problems with performance though.

This reminds me of
1. Playing BF1942 with 56K modem ( server is rubber banding all the time)
2. Playing BF2 with a Pentium 4 1.8 ghz and 512mb RAM, constant fps-drops everywhere you turn(Iron Ridge)

Cities mostly, as well as when a large number of players are in a small area

1. Have you noticed a significant performance decrease from 0.87 -> 0.9?

Significant is an understatement, its Catastrophicly Horrific, Im talking from 30fps down to 10fps max!

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your performance in 0.9.

0.5

3. Name three or more maps in 0.9 which result in the worst performance.

Lashkar Valley 5-10 fps max
Pretty much all the maps are terrible

4. From the maps mentioned above, state which specific areas/directions affect your performance the most.

Any time i look onto the map my fps drops like a stone, External applications like Ventrillo crash more often then not aswell

5. Name any maps that you have no performance issues with.

When i run everything on low then they are all ok, but the old maps are the best such as kashan, runs at 30fps, but i dont want to run them on low, takes away what little emersion i can get.
It's been a while, old friends

1. Have you noticed a significant performance decrease from 0.87 -> 0.9?

Nothing significant, but I used to lag anyway, but it was still playable easily.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your performance in 0.9.
-8, I still occasionally get lag

3. Name three or more maps in 0.9 which result in the worst performance.
-Will edit later, but all seem o run equally

4. From the maps mentioned above, state which specific areas/directions affect your performance the most.
-N/A

5. Name any maps that you have no performance issues with.
