Kit Steal Punishment
Joining squads to steal kits are pretty annoying since .9 and so far not much to do against it. Would it be too much to create a punishment for that. what I suggest is:
If someone joins a squad. Takes a limited kit and leaves in pre determined timeline - 5 min. for example- he instantly dies and get a re-spawn time punishment. (120 sec. for example) both times are open to discussion of course if suggestion holds.
Don't know if this can be done engine wise.
p.s: searched but could not a specific topic on this. If there is sorry.

Well what if the squad's SL sucks? Or the whole squad leaves and u cant go to another because of the penalty? ? 5 mins is a lot of time for this. If squads are filling in fast because SLs suck then...

All for this idea, and USMCMIDN, You'd have to travel with the squadleader to see if he sucks anyways.

if a person is not teamwork orientated and just gets in my squad for a kit...I don't want that kind of person in my squad anyway.

As Phantom said: you have to spend time with the squad to judge its performance. Plus if you read carefully I put a note that those minutes are just examples to detail my suggestion and can be discussed alter.USMCMIDN wrote:Well what if the squad's SL sucks? @Rudd: fair and true enough but I guess thats something totally different. What I'm suggesting is totally against people who just want to steal kits.

i dont find that a problem :S... first off they have to stay in the squad for a short while untill they are able to request a kit .. sooo if its a functional squad its the squad leaders job to kick players which arnt supporting the squad and getting HAT ,Sniper, etc special kits and running off doing their own thing..

People do this right at the start too, which irks me more, as its the one point of the game where you are entirely able to act on your own plan without enemy interuption. That means you have to explain what you're doing again to the new guy, which is a bit annyoing.Redamare wrote:i dont find that a problem :S... first off they have to stay in the squad for a short while untill they are able to request a kit .. sooo if its a functional squad its the squad leaders job to kick players which arnt supporting the squad and getting HAT ,Sniper, etc special kits and running off doing their own thing..
At the end of the day, its not a killer issue, but if there were a simple and effective way of discouraging it, I would be in favour.

Re: Kit Steal Punishment
It is annoying when someone joins your ENG VOIP INF squad, doesn't say a word, and then when you're counting the guys around you and find you're missing one, look at your map to see that some guy has ran off into the distance with a sniper kit and no means of reporting contacts back, they get a kick from my squad, and a ban request is put in for wasting assets (although this is a touchy subject on most servers)
I'm all for penalising people who do this, I don't make squads so inbred douches can get their jollies with kits they're not entitled to.

There's no time limit to requesting special kits at the beggining of the round or when you first join a squad/first spawn in.

I don't see what the problem is, they join your squad to request ie. a sniper kit and then leave to create their own so they spot targets. I do this all the time, however I will always ask the SL for permission and generally on the Aus servers I never get turned down, on the US I do tend to get the occasional high and mighty saint such who'll have a whinge over something that at the end of the day doesn't actually affect them.

please not let this suggestion become specially for sniper. Actually I'm referring very little to sniper. AR, HAT and Marksman kits are making the difference.Kim Jong ill wrote:I don't see what the problem is, they join your squad to request ie. a sniper kit and then leave to create their own so they spot targets. While I do see this with snipers alot, i've also seen it with HAT, Grenidier, AR, etc. I think this would help out squad leaders alot, knowing that the guy who joined the squad, is in for a bit of a ride before he can do anything. With the Sniper, snipers are supposed to operate with a 2 man team. Thats why you can request it with only two people. Theres to many people who think there the 1337est sniper ever. The other classes will manage to piss me off even more. I Will need a couple of those kits. I support this idea 100% Anybody who doesnt has to remember, that its a teamwork game. Not a game were you grab your favorite weapon and go out killing.
if you miss him... try, try again

Good luck getting someone willing to spot with you, I'd be more then willing to do it for another but most of the time they're too arrogant and sit in their locked one man squads. Trust me mate I'm not one of those characteristic snipers just in it for the kills, whether I have a kit or not I'll be communicating enemy movements with the team at a far higher frequency then almost any other squad regardless of it's role.

Re: Kit Steal Punishment
getting a sniper kit should be possible with a two person squad. in reality there's no 6 men sniper-squad...Tim270 wrote:Only ever seen this done wither sniper kits...
1. sniper
2. spotter
that's it

Re: Kit Steal Punishment
I find subjects like this to be a double edged sword at times. On the one hand you have dedicated squads who can't request their kit because someone has taken it and gone in alone. But, on the other hand, you have people who want to do a particular job, and might be great at it. Be it, Sniper, HAT, AA, etc. But, there is a lack of people who want to support those kits, who are willing to run around with the kit holder, and help him do his job. And that is understandable, since a lot of kit based squads aren't exactly professional. In my experience most of the people who create sniper squads honestly don't know what to do with the other 5 guys that join, and just want them to join so they can secure enough players to get the kit.
I guess what I'm saying is that there are times, where a single person getting a kit and running off alone, can be an asset to the team. Not only do they free up a squad space and prevent people from idling in a sniper squad while assaulting like infantry, but they are more focused on their job. They don't have people talking their ear off on the mic, they don't have to worry about what other people are doing, or if other people are exposing themselves. There is no need to monitor the rest of your squad. And they are more likely to type out some intelligence in team text chat. (Or sit in a locked 1 man squad and feed intel to the commander if there is one)
I know, I know, it's not teamwork. This type of attitude will ruin the spirit of PR, right??? I disagree. Great teamwork can happen, without any squad teamwork, especially with mumble and other 3rd party VOIP applications.

he allready took his kit anyways then... these are the guys who get in, steal your hat, sniper or any heavy kit and make an own squad. these are the new vanilla users who are not fully intergrated in the game.[R-CON]Rudd wrote:if a person is not teamwork orientated and just gets in my squad for a kit...I don't want that kind of person in my squad anyway.

Re: Kit Steal Punishment
I have an idea: Make penalty when s1 takes limited kit and stays for more than 5 minutes outside any squad or changes squad constantly.
