macros tend not to work in BF2/PR. I've tried in the past making a few macros for my flightstick but nothing worked

Yes there are, such as Autohotkey which can be used to make very handy macros.

It is possible to have it type out messages too, for example using the numpad keys for direction and 3 other keys for type of contact you should have enough variations available for most situations.

EST morning-time is the low time for TG. Later on, you'd be unlucky to find less than 20 on mumble.

AutoHotkey is the way to go, though.
If you want to try it all yourself, go to the autohotkey website, and download AHK. You can look up some of their documentation on how to write key-binds and do them all yourself if you'd like.
If you only need a few macros, tell me what you want them to do; both the key to press for the macro, and what you want it to do specifically (ie. "I want it to type "Hey, you" in teamchat, which I use the default k key for, when I press the p key"). If I get the time I'll set them up for you (or teach you how to set them up, with one done for you as an example).

I don't think you realize how difficult that is for a macro to achieve.
Think of it this way... for each key you press, it can press as many keys as you'd like it to, but only those keys.

You could make a macro for that "I have heavy enemy contact 60 meters..." but you couldn't ever say "I have heavy enemy contact 100 meters..." with that key.
The only way to do that would be to segment the sentence (hit I to type "I have enemy contact", then you'd type the range and direction, then hit O to say "of my location in grid", and then you'd have to type the grid...).

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, in which case you need to be more detailed in what you want the macro to do...

If there in danger enough from the enemies you're spotting out, they should be within your Mumble range. Makes no sense to call out to a squad that isn't even within hearing distance that enemies are near you. If you're warning them from afar, you should have time to type it out.

He can do whatever he so pleases. What do you care if he uses a set of chat-macros to speed up his typing?

Yeah, well give me an example of the parts of a segment you want. I can't do anything if you keep being vague and indecisive.

Go to AutoHotkey Download and download the AutoHotkey Installer.
Install AHK.
On your desktop, right click and go to New>"AutoHotkey Script". Name the file, then right click and "Edit Script".
Under what is automatically created to start the file, add this bit of code which will make the hotkey only work when you are in BF2.

Code: Select all

SetTimer, KeepRunning
return

KeepRunning:

WinGet, szProcessName, ProcessName, A
if szProcessName = bf2.exe
{
Suspend, off
}
else
{
Suspend, on
}
Then, to create your macros you can do one of two things:

Code: Select all

::Supplymacro::I need supplies at my location in

$~^p::Send will mark LZ with smoke.
Return
If you type "Supplymacro", then space or comma, it will replace "Supplymacro" with "I need supplies at my location in ".

If you hit ctrl+P, it will type "will mark LZ with smoke" for you (The symbols before the p define how the hotkey reacts. See this page for definitions of these and other symbols).

You can continue to add all the macros you like into this file.
