I had the same problem on my old laptop but when I bought a new one I didn't have the problem any more.
I think it had something to do with the shared memory video card in my old laptop and the lack of memory

I get the same problem with vista.
What I do is run photoshop just before running bf2editor, keep all harddrives defraged, and also run gamebooster which frees up memory and cpu usage by closing all unnecessary processes.
May or may not work for you.

Run as Win XP
Run As admin
