I think I just suck at installing BF2

When you load up BF2 or any other mod for BF2 and get that splash screen it's almost certain that it's something to do with your video settings. What graphic card do you have?

Things you can do:
Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for you graphic card (duh! don't you just love when someone tells you to do this )

Try the following to fix your problem:

Right click on your desktop -> select properties. This will open op your display properties -> Click on the tab "settings" -> click advanced -> click on the tab "screen".
Here you should be able to see how many hertz your screen is running. It will probably be around 60 or 70 hertz.

Now when you've made sure how many hertz your screen is running go to ~\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\. Here you should see a file called video.con. Open this file with notepad.

You will see a line in the file that looks like this

VideoSettings.setResolution 1680x1050@60Hz

Change the @xxhz to whatever your screen is running, save the file. Try launching the game.
If that doesn't help try set the resolution as the same as you run windows in in the same line as before.
