I think it's just for a coop server without having to set up a dedi server.

no, it's not a stupid idea if he want's to play PR whit someone but on COOP it is a good idea me and my friends do it all the time. Yes he can just go online but maybe he don't want to do it, I cues this is what you meant.

Welcome to the PR Forum allot of the guys here are polite and helpful.
Its SO evil, it may actually encourage EA to support Modding again - Pantera

Correct, Hamachi creates a virtual network so you van play with friend running a PC as host/server.

It has nothing to do with cracked or illegally downloaded copies.

Ping still depends on the distance to the host and both of your internet speeds. That brings up an interesting question though; does Hamachi affect ping?

hamachi is a virtual private network or VPN for short.

Oh yes. because you can always use PB banned accounts / cracked games online  ever wonder why you can't play lan games in starcraft 2?

i used to use a program called xbox connect to play halo 1 online on my modified xbox. i didn't own halo, and it only has lan. XBC serves a legit purpose just like hamachi does. which is take a lan game and play it over the internet using vpn. But i guess im the one who isn't educated lol.

Just because it makes playing games online illegally an option doesn't mean that's why he's using it. I did that sometimes with my friends in PR and we all owned legit BF2 copies. Besides, correct me if I'm wrong, the money they spend on BF2 goes to EA, not the creators of PR since it's a mod, not a game itself. Why should you care if they are stealing from EA, I'm sure you've stolen some kind of media before, oh yes, you said as much in your post. Even if he is using Hamachi to play illegally it's not hurting anyone here.

Tl; dr..... Don't troll.

what was this post for? everything you said i had also. i never said i cared one way or the other. sounds like you are either jumping to conclusions or just trolling.

but saying the program isn't most popular for bad is wrong.

First off, thank you TommyGunn for mentioning Tunngle, looks promising.

Ok, so I have a question...
I have several BF2 licenses.. and several PCs,

Can I run a Hamachi Host on one PC behind my router and play as a client on another PC behind my router and have others join through Hamachi VPN to play on my server?

Also, does anyone have a link to bandwidth requirements for BF2, and/or BF2 :P R ? How much bandwidth per slot? Exponential increase as slots increase or not?
