[Help] Editor installation problems

Post by Vista »

So, I installed the editor, and I cant even start it.

I get 2 errors, being the first: "Direct 9x is required to run bf2"

And the second" The apliccation has generated an exeption and it will be closed"

Now, the errors make NO sense as I can play Bf2, pr and have direct 11.

I think whats causing the error is that, for example, to install the test_airfield map I have to move it to the mods-pr-maps and then move it there, BUT, I only have Bf2-mods-bf2-cache.

Wich is strange because I have PR installed, and I can play it...

Any one has the solution?

You need to run the editor as an administrator and in windows xp sp2 or 3 compatibility mode.

What above said. On a side note, if you have Dx11, it doesn't necessarily mean you have Dx9. However that shouldn't be relevat here as you obviously have Dx9c installed and working (If you can play BF 2).

you don't have a levels folder or you don't have a folder for the map that you want to work on?

I am assuming the latter - you follow this tut Creating a Basic Terrain - BFEditor
9. The drop-down box in the upper left corner of the editor is where you select which module you want to work in. Make sure this says “TerrainEditor”.

10. To the immediate right of the drop-down box is a standard windows “New” icon. If you hold the cursor over it for a few seconds, tooltips will display the name. Click on this icon or choose “File>New” from the menu bar. This will bring up the “Create new terrain” window.

11. In the section labeled “Name”, enter “My_Level”.

No, for example:

My problem is in the pr folder itself being I only have:
Battlefield 2 - mods - bf2 - cache
I am missing the pr folder there ( I have it) but its not there, and when I open the pr folder I only have logo, and I need the maps folder

you are looking in the wrong location, you are looking in my documents/battlfield 2

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr is where the main PR directory is to be found
