Any attitude restriction about bomb releasing???Bomb explode problem.....

Post by Jolly »

I used quick search: EF-2000 BOMB only to find this:https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f26-pr ... our-3.html
no clear explaination.....discussed with my friend, various version of the solutions

In silent eagle,Sometime, bomb droped by EF-2000 wont explode.
My way to engage ground target is approaching enemy from 1500 ft and drop the bomb from 500~600 ft.sometimes, bomb hit the target and destoryed it,but sometimes bomb just hit the ground and nothing happened!!Odd......If bomb hit directly on tank,it's down but when hit the ground..Nothing happened.

I was wondering there is any limitation of EF2000,Maybe altitude restriction???Or attack angle restriction????

It's a bug.. I thought it was fixed in 0.97

Well, this is probably not you problem but you gotta drop the bomb from 300-400 metres or it wont explode at all

This might be the problem, try dropping the bomb from +1300 altitude.

... What.

Sometimes the altitude between the ground and the plane is lower than 400 metres, even though the altimeter says you're higher than 400 metres, since it starts counting from the actual bottom of the map, not the terrain itself, so the bomb doesn't detonate (this is my theory at least).

^this, the altimeter on an airplane reads from sea level IRL, as for BF2 it reads from the 0 on the Y axis. just give yourself a few hundred meters of padding to drop the bomb. the fact that even mountain maps aren't that high off BF2's version of sea level makes it easier already.
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.

Another thing to keep in mind...a bomb arming isn't really a function of distance but rather a function of time. As a result it is possible to drop a bomb 100m off the ground and have it hit a target and explode. I do this for getting hard to reach spots like bunkers or tunnels.

maybe they are duds.
the mods way of trolling us. Every 1/4 bomb should be a dud, wouldnt that be funny?

thats just my theory.

Which leads to my advice of dropping the bomb from a higher altitude.

Actually it goes off the Sea Level of the map, but ye, you don't have a radar altitude meter.

How are you supposed to be able to see the lase from an altitude of +1300?

Werll, you don't need to see it. Afaik the bomb auto-locks on no matter how long it took the bomb to fall there. You only need the minimap - in theory. Of course, at that altitude, anything can happen :P

That was fixed a couple of patches ago (You have to lock on before drop).

This. You could drop it from 1 foot if you wanted as long as it didnt reach the ground until the determined amount of seconds later.

Ah, okay. Guess I should not talk about things I have little experience with, sorry for spreading misinformation.

I'll stick to ground work :p

ALtitude. And I recently found out, if you say you like tweens, you are not saying you like girls in their twenties O.o.

The english language is full of traps and minefields.

But yeah, I suppose if you release it at 500m you will be fine. A nice cheap tactic is to dive on the target from like 1,5 km and release it way early. The bomb will find the lock on the way down.

You dont need to see the laze.

Is that a true fact?

I am 99% sure that is a "true" fact, yes. It was fixed as it was almost impossible killing the jets when we could drop bombs over the clouds.

I have no idea about +.95 but prior to that they reinstated the ability to bomb from BVR no?

I think that the bomb will still arm and magically be attracted to the laser if you drop it from 3000m in a vertical dive. Don't have concrete evidence on it though.

Also its very funny to see a bomb do a 180 turn and shoot back up in the sky. The refractor engine has to have the most hilarious physics ever in a game.

Someone's gotta try lasing an A-10 just after it dropped a bomb :P
