Hearing enemies on mumble
I remember with the old mumble you could hear any enemies that were in your immediate AO. Is there a way to edit the channels on the PR mumble to do the same? I really miss that.

Don't think its possible to do it within one channel only, you'd have to force every server to play it that way. I personal like it but most gamers don't have the discipline and ruin gameplay that way.

There was an even a while back that involved only one huge mumble channel for the whole game. You could hear enemies, etc. Other than a per-event basis I don't think that this is something that should be added to the game.

I remember UK Warfare server having this, it was quite fun, but sometimes people were spying the channels and giving informations to their team/squad.

Would it be possible to garble the voice coming through? So you know somebody is talking, but not what is being said? I'm thinking along the lines of the Eve mumble bot, tweaked to garble the words...

If there is such a translator which translate English into another language, that would be awesome!LOL
But I know it's impossible.....

^This. I've always seen two separate comms channels in games as more realistic since the average soldier isn't likely to speak the other teams language.Brainlaag wrote:[M]ost gamers don't have the discipline and ruin gameplay that way.

Re: Hearing enemies on mumble
I think the idea would get great and is very much possible with Mumble 1.0 by changing the channels you recieve local chat from being from all the channels within the server.
Also it would make gathering intel and special operations much more important and a great experience, with a example of infiltrating a enemy bunker and hearing the enemies talking about the reinforcements or when the cas is inbound. Also knowing when they least expect a attack.
Please developers, do a trial run for like 1 week to see how this would effect gameplay!

We had it already, it didn't work out mainly because 80% of the player kept chatting like nothing was.RyanParsons7 wrote:I think the idea would get great and is very much possible with Mumble 1.0 by changing the channels you recieve local chat from being from all the channels within the server.

Uhm, how long did we have it on NwA and UKWF? 6-7 months? Did they anyhow get disciplined? No. People were actually taunting over Mumble, something I don't mind at all as long as it doesn't compromise my chance of success.

PR is about realism, and I think local chat shouldn't be side locked, because in real life you would hear someone in the next room talking.
PR has a steep learning curve, and people will either adapt or leave.

*Facepalm* Please reread what I've written just above you. 2nd thing is, it might be true that your hear them BUT IRL you wouldn't understand what their are talking as I don't think you know Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Hebrew, etc. This would prevent the situation I've mentioned above.

Re: Hearing enemies on mumble
So, while sitting in a building under heavy fire by every kind of lead, you drag an interpreter out of your pocket and tell him "Hey buddy, how about you just run out there real quick, evade all the shit coming at you and tell me what they are talking over there, aight? GO!". Not so sure about that bro.'Limeni[BiH wrote:;1736676']Yes, but in real life you will probably have a translator so you can interrogate captured soldiers or just to ear drop on nearby people or talk to them. Especially if you are operating behind enemy lines or in places where lines are not strictly defined (like insurgency in game).
BOLD: Not PR!
