PR crash when establishing connection to account server
I have BF2 1.5, latest PR.
I can login just fine on normal BF2.
When i attempt to login to my account via PR it crashes to desktop. No warning. I tried running it in window but no error message pops up.
I tried deleting the Battlefield 2 folder from my documents but it is not solving the problem.
I retrieved my account through PR fine. It then gave me a shortcut error information (Game did not crash, just a pop up). I then restarted PR. Still crashes whenever i attempt to login to my BF2 account through PR.
Please help

Re: PR crash when establishing connection to account server
Right, what you have to do is delete all your accounts in normal BF2 then shut down the game, reload BF2 and then retrieve all the accounts your going to use, then load up pr and the accounts will be there to use, if you retrieve accounts through pr it will cause the login procedure to crash the game, this should solve your problem.

Re: PR crash when establishing connection to account server
I did exactly what you told me.
This is what i see:

When i try and retrieve my account through PR, it works and does connect through to the accounts server and it even says "Soldier: [Myaccount]" at the top left. However it keeps directing me to the shortcut information screen forcing me to close the game...

Please help me....
It has to do with the fact that its setting my accounts to "OFFLINE". I cannot actually see my account name in the accounts window. Just "OFFLINE".
SEE THE SCREENSHOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: PR crash when establishing connection to account server
Go to My Documents and locate Battlefield 2 folder. Delete it.
Run vBF2 ( NOT PR! ) and retrieve account if you had one if not create new one for ONLINE use.
You will need valid email address and password. Once you create it you can edit video/audio settings, and join MP game to make sure everything works fine.
When done, shut it down and run PR. Use you newly created online account and login.
Thats it.

Re: PR crash when establishing connection to account server
I did the above but i still get my accounts showing as "Offline" in the accounts manager on both BF2 and PR for some reason. I can join and play fine when i retrieve the account through BF2 then it automatically logs me in.
I just got this error message when attempting to log in to my account in PR.
ERROR: Unable to open BF2 process

Re: PR crash when establishing connection to account server
I seem to have fixed it.
I changed compatibility settings for both PR shortcut and BF2 shortcut to windows xp sp3.

Re: PR crash when establishing connection to account server
I changed compatibility settings for both PR shortcut and BF2 shortcut to windows xp sp3.]
It shows my actual account name after retrieving my account through PR, then restarting PR. I even joined a server.
Tried to launch it again and it goes back to saying "Offline" for my account. FFS!!!!!!!!!!!! Hence its CTD whenever i attempt to login to this "offline" account. But its supposed to be my actual account that i am using in bf2. for fck sake.

Re: PR crash when establishing connection to account server
Running in compatibility mode for XP is not recommended. You will get memory leaks and will often CTD.
Your problem is rare and strange. Usually deleting profile folder and running vBF2 and retrieving account fixes it, but not in your case. Not sure why. Might be permission issue. Are you running both as admin? Does your Win7 account has admin privileges? Do you have NetFW 3.5 sp1?
