Hello all,
First time playing PR in years, and I am having trouble getting the game to work.
I have installed everything in the right orders, then re installed, then re re installed to no avail. I always get this error message just after clicking the icon to start the game. The message simply states:
"pr.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." with the usual "send/dont send error" click boxes.
I am not running the game through steam and don't know what to do now. I have tried using the exe file in the game folder and also changing the target of the short-cut but again the same message. BF2 runs fine as does every other game on my PC.
Not massively knowledgeable about all this stuff, some help would be appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Dab

Re: Pr.exe problems
After running PR flawlessly since I first installed it I had to reinstall Windows 7 today 32 bit. I downloaded and installed all the required files, in correct order and changed the PR program to run as admin. The only thing it has done is show me the splash PR screen then tells me the same error as the person above me is getting. I've done everything I can think of and it's still not working. Any clues?

Re: Pr.exe problems
Step 1: Determine if your PR installer is corrupt or not.
Where did you download PR installer part 1 , 2, and 3 from?
Check the installer file hashes against there hash values:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ashes.html
Step 2: Check if vanilla BF2 works online, and is updated to newest 1.5.xxxx version.
Report back with any error code you are seeing.

Step 3: Start PR in windowed mode using the Code directly above this, adjusting it for your system.'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd']Was BF2 installed and working before you installed PR? Was BF2 patched to 1.5 ?
Can you log in to vanilla BF2?
If BF2 was already working, we'll suggest one course of action. (Could be firewall/antivirus/router/installation error/etc)
IF BF2 was just installed NOW so you can play PR, all the parts have to be installed in proper order.
Please read below and make sure you installed BF2 and PR in this order:
Here is the installation guide with download links:
PR:BF2 Support - Project Reality Forums
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... guide.html
Here is the installation guide in tl;dr format:
Install BF2.
Run BF2.
Note the version number on the bottom left corner of the log-in screen. Write it down.
log in or create a user account.
join online game.
adjust your audio and video settings now for convenience.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
(Optionally if you bought it) install Special Forces Addon.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
install 1.41 FULL PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
install 1.5 PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
Download and install 0.973 full installer.
Start the PR shortcut on desktop.
log in.
join online game.
If you crash at the splash screen, or the screen goes black and then crashes to desktop, try to start PR in windowed mode by following the directions below:
Edit your PR shortcut and ( what AfterDune said ) put this in it
If you start in windowed mode and it CTDs, a Message will pop up telling you the problem. Take a screenshot or write this down and post it to this thread.Code: Select all
Code: "D:\Program Files\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720 Dont just copy paste this, but adjust to your install location. Make sure you dont omit quotation marks or it wont work.
You can then download the PR:Vietnam, PR:Normandy, PR:Falklands and Anders Soundmod at your discretion.
Report back with any error code you are seeing.

Re: Pr.exe problems
Weird thing, I checked to see if Battlefield 2 would work and it did. As soon as I set it up my PR worked. Although my graphics and sounds are the battlefield 2 version (not sure why) I believe it is resolved. It created a folder in "My Documents" folder. Any ideas why it wouldnt just create it in the existing EA/BF2 folder?

Re: Pr.exe problems
The first time you connect to an online vanilla BF2 server, the bf2.exe program creates
1. your BF2 directory locations in your my documents directory.
2. registry entries pointing to the location of your BF2 directory locations in your my documents directory.
That is why we have to have people do these steps:
