Might be ANY other program interferring (Antivirus for example)

There is program processexplorer or so (Litoralis might post here) to see what could cause it...

You didn't give much info, so please answer some questions I'll throw out to you:

Is this happening in any other games?
Is this happening in vanilla BF2 when playing in a online server? (please go test this)

Are you running any programs that have overlays? Such as msi afterburner, fraps, ts3 ovrelay, etc?

Do you have onbaord audio or an audio card?

Are you using a Logitech USB headset?

Have you updated your video card drivers?

IS your PC set to "performance" power management mode?

How many Watts is your power supply?

The above questions are just wild guesses.

You could do a few things to try to isolate the problem.

1. Play vanilla BF2 single player offline. See if it freezes in similar way.

2. Play vanilla BF2 online. See if the same freezes occur. If it does, we can look at antivirus, firewall, router settings, etc.

3. Play PR on a local server with bots, see if the same freeze occurs. If online vanilla BF2 works and online PR doesn't, could be a corrupted PR installation.

-----------------------------

Please give us as much info about your system specs as possible, and please tell us what make and model of router you have.

There is a workaround to use USB headsets, but I've only been able to repeat what other people have posted here, as I don't have a set myself.

Search here and elsewhere for BF2 fix for Logitech G930 and Logitech G35 headsets.
G930 is the wireless version, G35 is the wired version.

I'll look around to see if I can find the answer, but still possibly a different solution needed for your particular Dynex model.

BTW, please tell me exact Dynex model name/number, so I can search around for some solutions.

Also, let me know if your Dynex headset is stereo or surround sound. And if it is possible to switch between modes.

I've also had this problem in Project Reality ( a BF2 mod), and this is the solution I've come up with. When you start up BF2, make sure your headset is set to stereo mode (surrond is off). After the game has finished loading, you can turn surround back on through the headset, and then surround and VoIP would work.

The suggestion lonewolf80 provided should work. I occasionally play Project Reality for BF2 and sometimes have to do that, although sometimes I could only get it to work on my G930 if I turned the switch to 7.1 while someone in my Squad was speaking.

It has to do with BF2 not supporting surround sound devices, unfortunately since it's an old game I wouldn't expect an update. But my G930 works fine on Battlefield 3.

I'm giving you answers for Logitech USB headsets cause , well, there are just so many more out there,
'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd;1863940']I have G35 headset which is usb
That is the problem.

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ng-up.html

to fix this, you have to disable the G35 sound manager (should have an icon in the system tray) BEFORE you start PRmumble and PR.

Always disable G35 sound manager before starting PRMumble and PR.
Always run PRMumble as admin.
Always run PRMumble before PR.
Always run PR as admin.

We have the similar system specs,
your OS and PR are installed on the SSD?
Have you optimized the OS to run on SSD?
Sean's Windows 7 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs & HDDs

IF you agree, we'll make the assumption it is specifically a problem with the PR mod files.
I'd suggest performing a hashcheck on your 0.973 and 0.981 installation files,. if you still have them.

Are you running multiple drives and using a page file system on multiple drives?

I can't think of any glaringly obvious culprit, it might be a timesaver to uninstall PR mod and reinstall.

Does the ingame video and audio freeze?

Have you overclocked the CPU? And altered Turbo Boost settings in the BIOS?

A couple of other troubleshooting questions:

When you play PR co-op, does it also freeze in the same way?

How about when you play PR in a window (try 1280x720 for example), does it still freeze then?

I actually had an almost identical problem many years ago (in maybe 2008?) and although I solved it, I can't remember how or what the cause was. :-?

The only two possible solutions I can remember from my time were:

- The IME switch creating big issues
- An old version of shockwave that caused ATI drivers to crash & restart, so if you had a web browser open while playing PR, it would be crashing your ATi Driver in the background.

I don't think either of these are relevant to you, unless you type in any other languages (character sets) aside from English.

Edit: As you can see, intermittent freezes are the hardest to diagnose - This thread ended up being a crossfire issue.

Have to look through possible problems with network issues ...

Wired or Wireless connection to the Netgear N600 ?

--------------------------------
Each torrent has a unique hash, which can be checked to make sure the downloaded files were not corrupted.
Here is the link to the hashes for PR downloads:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ashes.html

Here is a program to find the hashes in the PR download:
Home of the MD5summer
Install, run, point the program to check the PR install files,
program spits out the hashes,
check them against the link above.

Generally, yes

All the hashes check out okay
How long did you test the local server stuff? Long enough to be sure it doesn't happen??

What version of BF2 do you own? Retail DVD, EA Origin, Steam, etc? Is it a legal key? Are you using a cracked .exe ?

Download the file here:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... steam.html

Rename your current BF2.exe to BF2.exe.bak

Extract the download BF2.exe to your BF2 installation folder.
