If I remember correctly, server admins have the ability to change the amount of time before a round starts. We use 3 minutes because it was a commonly agreed time that wasn't too short or too long.
Sorry for the long reply time. I thought about it and I think my suggestion will be too long for a single thread. I haven't written it yet though, cause it seems a bit overwhelming. Not sure how to approach you with it then?

In regard to the 3 minute frame, it is not enough time for the majority of CO players and teams. In addition those 3 minutes also need support by at least one additional system of thought. A new system that if allowed by the BF2 code, has to be created and one way or another, be implemented in the game.

Please forgive me, should the above not make much sense. Its just that there is a lot to all of this.

However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.

Just a question to devs (or you melonmuncher), I recall there being something to do with the size of the falklands maps that made them unable to support SP/Co-op. Is this true or am I just imagining things?

Darn.

Next question, how would the devs react if someone (f.e. me) would start a serious petition for giving the Refractor 2 tools to the PR Devs (maybe FH2 Devs, too). Would you support this? If anyone deserves it, you guys do. I would give this a chance since the Refractor Engine isn't even used by Dice anymore, and i could imagine EA giving green light to it.

Since Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield Play4Free still use the Refractor Engine and they still make money with it I highly doubt this is going to happen.
We've been through that and there are tons of threads about it. It's not worth spending time on that, sorry.

Do u guys plan to make real 3D scopes? (reticle texture modeled into the scope, if that makes any sense).
I know that the HK417 will be in the next release, so will the HK416 be given to any faction?

I'm pretty sure they're already modeled in the scopes.

AFAIK they have a HK416 modeled for the Norwegians but the gun isn't used by any of the factions in the game right now, so I'd put it down as unlikely. We might - might - see the M27, but my money's on no to that also.
