Question: Hit registration vs Unarmored Vehicle Occupant

Post by Human_001 »

When shooting at player inside of unarmored vehicle through Truck and Helicopter's window and body of vehicle, hit registration seems completely at random.

Sometimes a single shot to player through window is registered as a kill, but at other times you can shoot several direct hit against player behind window or door and will not register as a kill (not sure if it is still registered as reduction in health).

what is happening in PR when shooting at window and fuselage of unarmored vehicle, and its effect against target (player) behind them?

Don't know if this is fully relevant, but I'll post it anyways:

That's the hitbox of a technical gunner. I'd assume there's something similar with the people inside an unarmored vehicle too.

It really depedns of vehicle. Some windows are bulletproof, and others aren't. If you can't kill passengers with few well placed shoots, it mean, you will more likely destroy whole vehicle, that kill only them.

I always wondered this. I shot the pilot out of a Huey once when it landed in front of me (shot them with a G3 in the head through the windscreen, one shot kill).

On the other hand I swear they are bulletproof.

Lots of things like this in the game are a total mystery to me, would be nice to hear some info if anyone has it.

Huey Windows can penetrated with 7.62 i think, against 5.56 it should be bullet proof.

What about BRDMs? I've lost track how many times i've tried to kill the driver of one of those with an M14...

I'm pretty sure the BRDM glass is small arms proof...

I think you mean this @ 3:00, I line up a dead aim shot to the passenger and the rear gunner dies, LMFAO

Nope, chinese 5.56 x rice cup caliber goes right through. Both rifle and AR. The front windows are clearly more bulletproof and the bottom and side windows less. Easier to shoot someone out of a huey if you dont try to get them through the windshield.

Part of it is, part of it is not. You can be shot out of a BRDM even though you're inside it, pretty sure you can't shoot the gunner out though.

Same goes for strykers, a lucky RPG/.50cal hit will kill the gunner out, the part where you need to shoot is somewhere close to the turret on the side of the APC.

Ok. This is getting even more confusing.

Thanks everyone for replies, although.

You'd think if you were going to armour any windows on a Heli you would make it the bottom ones, lol.

An aside, you can shoot the pilot of an Mi-8 from behind in the head, if the rear doors are open. It's just clear air (which is nice).

Another example of the techi gunner :) . This explains the hitbox somewhat, that Saxoni already mentioned before.

It is what it is. Sometimes it works perfectly fine for me, and sometimes it does not. This just occured to me. It was recorded a year ago.
