Amazed

Post by lukeviper248 »

I am simply amazed. Me and my friends have served this country, and some of us have been down range. The amount of resistance people get for suggesting stuff is amazing. I know you have military advisers, but they are simply individual people, we have a lot of vets on here. Stop being hard headed, its amazing, if you want reality, then you can have reality , but listen to everyone. I will continue to play your mod, until some smart guy decides to listen to their followers, for example we do not put posts up for review on Aces High and we have had great ideas and suggestions. I moved over here for a bit, just because of the ground warfare aspect.

Eh. No disrespect mate, but there's no way we can tell whether someone who posts a suggestion has actual experience. We have trustworthy sources. And even if the suggestion is not approved for discussion, it's still noted and if a good point is raised, we can internally discuss it.

I can feel your pain, but you have to realize, if everyone starts suggesting stuff, then viewing all those suggestions would be a pain in the *** for the devs and community members alike. Some suggestions are blatantly not possible(e.g. fastropes), while others would break the game balance(e.g. higher hp for Western tanks). However, you can always try messaging the Devs, asking to be a military advisor.

Also, it's a good time to explain that ALL suggestions are readable by the DEVs and CONs. Just because it's doesn't get approved for public viewing doesn't mean we don't see it. Some are more reasonable than others, but we see them all. Also, if we like a suggestion but it really doesn't need public discussion then it won't be approved for the public but does get discussed by the team. :)

Wouldn't it be possible for everyone to be able to look at suggestion that people posts, even though it is not open for reply?
I can't think of the benefit of public not being able to see what peoples are posting as suggestions.
I don't understand reason why suggestion post can't be posted like other threads?

It's for our benefit Human 001, some suggestions are quite frankly a waste of moderator's time; either they are technically impossible or already have a thread in the public arena, or are a 'Please Make X' thread. It's much easier to approve good suggestions than to close down all the bad ones.

Please make X threads can sometimes be useful if the poster also provides references for making the asset and a rationale for it being added; e.g. they post a link to a reputable website that claims that Y service is buying a load of X vehicle/weapon to be sent to Afghanistan or something. But most 'Please make X' threads are from randomers who provide very little reason to add the asset aside from 'it would be cool'.

Good suggestions are still happening, but after 8 years of development; it's not surprising that there aren't as many useful ones as there once were,.

some? More like 80 to 90 %....

You guys wouldn't believe how many "You guys should add Fast Ropes" etc topics we still get in there and these ones bury the good suggestions which even if you could see them, would only make it harder for you guys to see the ones that are worth discussing....

However I should say that we do want to improve the suggestion forums so that both the topic's creator and devs/cons/mods can all see that topic, and then we can reply to them to say "this suggestion isn't going to happen for xxx reasons" but its hard to get the forums updated since our main admin is never about to do these little changes :(

EDIT: as for your recent suggestion lukeviper248 (which has only been up for 15hrs when you made this next topic, not even giving us enough time to go though it), ghillie suits where removed because in urban and many other situations they aren't used and you couldn't "take them off" ingame, as well as the significant problems of them not blending into the ingame environment and only making the sniper stand out 10x more from the crowed... From a realism POV, I can't say how much they are used I would have to ask our MAs but every time I've seen a pic of a sniper in Afghanistan etc they never have them, although that is a desert environment yes, but then it comes back down to the engine problems which makes it not worth really talking about...
As for giving the sniper the 1911 instead of the M9, we would have to look closely into how common that is. Just because your friend uses one doesn't necessary mean its the most common weapon or if its even common at all but again, something we would have to talk with our MAs about to confirm.
And finally as for "new sniper rifle optics", we try to make the appropriate set of optics for a weapon possible. If one is using the incorrect optics its most likley because we didn't make the model in the first place, most likley donated by an outside source or a vBF2 model or something and we haven't got round to changing it. As for the USMC Sniper Rifle I take it your referring too, that rifle was made by an outside source for vBF2 SP use and we only picked it up and ideally, the model needs to be fully replaced with a new model made from scratch but we have far more important things to do than make new sniper rifles that are only used by a max of two guys on a team...

Which country? The PR country? :D

Otherwise it is pretty much irrelevant.

Gents, be respectful of other users; doesn't matter who they are. Don't post unless you have something to contribute.

Servicemen are welcome here just like everyone else, but in their case they also have knowledge and experience that PR may find useful.

Respect for service men, but things you want to see in the game and actual reality what weapon is used by majority of selected branch is to different things.

For example, would love to see SCAR and HK416/417 for US and USMC forces, but they are super rare and wont be implemented.

Same for Russian AK-12... :/

@viper

fair enough comment, however some DEVs and Some forum members have been here for years watching their baby grow.

the bf2 coding and map editor are a *****, they (devs) have dedicated their free time to this mod and know exactly what is an isnt possible.

Further more they also have settled on the direction they want the game to go in.

Picture PR mod as a huge container ship that TURNS very slowly.

Sometimes people just have no patience, for those that just want to jump in at the helm of the ship and drive it off in another direction.

in game character for the factions is as important as in game balance.

Far more is discussed in the DEV and PR team forums than you think. Lots of bug reports and suggestions get brought up there than make waves in the public forum.
