"Unable to detect required dependency"

Post by Idisliketreyarch »

Been playing 1.0 with no problems until today's patch. So would someone like to explain why I get this:

Image

After I installed the patch I got this, now I can't launch the game. Why is this happening?

I know there is a thread about this. I would like an explanation though.

EDIT: I downloaded what I was supposed to and now I still can't launch the game.

I am on Windows 7 64 bit. Naturally, I downloaded 'vcredist_x64.exe' and installed it. Didn't work.

EDIT2: Tried x86. No luck.

I can't check because the launcher won't start up now. I guess so. I wasn't really paying attention.

EDIT: The mod.desc says 1.0.33. So yes.

Regarding your issue, you can try to install the x86 version as well (it doesn't hurt your system), see if that helps anything?

Sorry. I'm just frustrated right now.

I will try this in the mean time.

EDIT: Same error.

It did not work for me. (Installing the x86 version)

  1. I installed the patch 3 x86
  2. I reinstalled (repaired) the patch 3 x86
  3. I installed the patch 3 64
  4. I reinstalled (repaired) the patch 3 64
Now the launcher works...... I have no idea what is going on!!!

Seems like you have to install the same thing twice to make it work.

I repaired just the x64 version without restarting and it works now.

Confirmed; Repairing both x86 and x64 version help. OBS: I did not try starting in-between repairs, so I can't say whether one repair was enough.

Edit: Also did not have to restart my computer.

OK,
I need to write up a quick note I can repost repeatedly to anyone having this problem:

Can those of you who fixed this please tell me if this is correct:

Update from .32 to .33
PR unable to start.
You will see the error message below:
UNable to detext required dependency
C++ Redistributable 2012 Update 1 x64
Image
To fix this:
Click on the link in the error message window.
Click the big blue button to install UPDATE 3.

Install the patch 3 x86
REInstalled (repaired) the patch 3 x86
Installed the patch 3 64
REinstalled (repaired) the patch 3 64
You should restart Windows at this point.
Start PR.

In practice if you have 32 bit Windows:
you only need to download, install and repair patch 3 x86

In practice if you have 64 bit Windows:
you only need to download, install and repair patch 3 x64
For general safe computing you should however download, install and repair both x86 and x64 for 64 bit Windows.

------------------------

Does that sound correct?

You only need to install and repair the version your running I just got carried away and installed the wrong version first... no harm in that though.

So if your system is 64 bit get the 64 bit and repair it obviously

This was never supposed to happen, that's why version 33 came out right after to fix the dependency. It was a mistake, people that update from 31 straight to 33 will be fine and not get that message.

Confirmed this is still broken. Will post back with a fix if i find one.

Edit: To fix (for me)
Follow the on the error message.
Download either the x86 or x64 .exe
Run the .exe
If you've installed it before you'll have the option to either repair or uninstall.
Choose repair
Run PR.

Seems this fixed other people's issues as well. I already this problem and fixed it. However after installing the new catalyst drivers the issue reoccurred.

This fix isn't working for me. It says I'm missing Update 1 x64 but the link only offers Update 3, so I repaired that and rebooted but I still get the same dependency error.

It was working the other day but I updated from CCC 13.4 to 13.6 beta 2, so I guess that's why it's not working anymore as I think that installed some visual C++ stuff.

So if anyone works out how to fix it, please let me know.

OK. I installed the x86 update 3 and tried to launch PR without rebooting and it still didn't work. Then I ran the x64 repair again and now it works, even without rebooting.

As I'd already done the x64 repair and rebooted and that didn't work, I can only assume that the x86 update has to be installed first as well.

Happened to me too today, but i've got Windows 8.1 (Pro.).

I'll try to fix it, will edit this post then...

The Launcher worked yesterday, i installed PR, updated it to the latest version, changed the video settings and exited (after exiting, i didn't start the launcher again, nor the game).

Today, i installed Visual Studio 2012 express (i need it for college); then, after that, i started the launcher and the error message appeared. Maybe it has something to do with visual studio...

EDIT:

Installed 2012 Update 3 (as recommended), restarted

- didn't work

Repaired 2012 under Programs -> deinstall programs -> right click visual C++ Redistributable 2012 (x64 in my case) -> change -> repair -> restarted pc after repairing was done

- works now :)

I also have Visual C++ Redistributable 2010 x64 and x86 installed.
