I feel you man. It's so terribly strange that it works on my laptop which is using the same connection only wireless. Apparently it's something to do with the Windows installation or something or the LAN drivers maybe.Elephants in the forest wrote:well, about 3 days ago i played 3 fulls rounds. felt content that I had worked the problem out, took a break for a couple days, hopped on this morning, and the problem is back.

Can you guys play BF2 fine? I can't, so it's not PR that's causing the problem, its BF2.

Best strategy for a hacker?
1.Make an amazing game/mod that kicks players after 15 minutes.
2.Sit back as they willingly lower their computer security to the bare minimum to attempt to play without being kicked
3.ATTACK!!

Re: PR 1.0 disconnects after like 15 minutes
I had this issue in 0.98, which I initially suspected to be related to punkbuster. This affected both PR and vBF2, suggesting that it is a core engine issue and not directly related to PR. I still have some suspicions that it may be a UDP flood protection that my ISP (Comcast) is using, since I have disabled the router and OS firewall. I monitored a couple rounds with Wireshark and found that I was sending packets out but not getting anything from the server.
Aside from updating and rolling back drivers, I eventually completely wiped BF2 from my system. After which, perhaps by coincidence, I was able to play again (now disconnects occur maybe once every couple hours, if that). If this was the cause, it could be due to BF2's netcode optimizer/latency compenstation values getting thrown off by a bad lag spike and then getting stuck in an invalid region, and the wipe cleared out improper values from the Usersettings.con file.
The other thought could be along the line of why people with X-Fi soundcards cannot play with X-Fi mode/Ultra high sound setting combination. For whatever reason, graphic-intense scenes (e.g. explosions) in BF2 will cause DPC latency to spike up to 2 seconds. This causes various devices to be starved of data. In the case of the X-Fi, this results in corrupted sound. This could also affect network cards in a similar way, causing the card to behave as if it lost its internet connection for a couple seconds, disconnecting from the server.

ME TOO!
I had this same exact issue on .98!
.973 didn't have no problems at all.
I have comcast too, (I got it on Feburary 2nd or 7th I can't remember)
Do you have a fix?
**Does anyone have a "freeze", but you can still hear people on mumble, then boom... DC?
Hard to explain the question above ^
It's like your playing, then it's like the game froze, then disconnection.
It's also doing this on vBF2! Also I tried on FH2 and it did it too! :\
I know the devs are working hard. They have lives too!

Re: PR 1.0 disconnects after like 15 minutes
We are working on this problem in the Dev Team forums.
For now, anyone with Vista/7/8 , can you please do the following:
1. record the exact time of your CTDs
2. Start Event Viewer
Tutorial on using Event Viewer and custom filters: Use Windows 7 Event Viewer to track down issues that cause slower boot times - TechRepublic
You should end up seeing something like this:
http://imageshack.us/f/96/eventviewer.png/

4. See if the CTD time and the Error ID 1003 are roughly the same, within a few seconds of each other.
IF you see this pattern, we need to know
if you have a static IP from router to PC.
if you do not have a static IP from router to PC, what is the DHCP renewal period set to in your router settings.
And for everyone, we need make , model and firmware revisions of your routers.
We're working on a concept that DHCP renewal requests are altering the packet flow of PRBF2.exe netcode.

3. Custom filter for Error ID 1002 ID 1003 and ID 1014 in Adminstrative tasks:Getting started
You can find and launch Event Viewer by opening the Control Panel, accessing the System and Security category, selecting the Administrative Tools item, and double-clicking the Event Viewer icon. However, you can also simply click the Start button, type Event in the Start Search box, and press Enter once Event Viewer appears and the top of the results display.

If you want to help us test this,
Set a static IP from router to your PC
change the DHCP CLient Lease time to the maximum allowed, (usually 9999 minutes)
For Cisco retail Routers, should look something like this:

You can check on the lease expire time, etc.. from ipconfig /all
1. run Command Prompt
2. type in ipconfig /all
example
Wireless adapter Local Area Connection:
Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Monday, August 12, 2013 10:44:35 AM
Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Tuesday, August 13, 2013 10:44:35 AM

For my DHCP Lease time...
Here are pics of my router's menu.
I have the troubleshooting logs for my routers firewall...
It starts from the time I started playing the round:
Start: 18:49:40, 2013-08-11
Disconnected from server: 19:06:31, 2013-08-11
A little bit over 15 min
*First PIC... Should I set my DHCP lease to forever? or 9999 (max) weeks?
Note, the troubleshooting logs might be a pain to read.
EDIT, I changed my DHCP lease to 52 weeks... (1year.)

This is what I get, I have a static IP though (setup in my LAN adapter IPV4 tab). Does this still matter with a static IP address?

I'll try PR now.

matty, those troubleshooting logs are almost certainly recording your PR CTD times within a second or two.
This is good folks, we're getting there.
Matty, I was on holiday, I flushed my brain out with alcohol and need to re ask yousome basic Q's:
wired or wireless?
static IP or dynamic IP to your gaming PC?
which router, make and model, and which firmware revision?
Do you have many other clients connecting to the router, i.e. other people's PCs/tablets/smartphones/whatever?
