Khamisiyah CTDs in vehicle

Hello all. my apologies if this thread has already been started, a quick search yielded nothing. im starting this because i have an unfortunate issue with this map. i seem to be okay when playing around the outskirts of the map, but there is someplace in the middle which, when it comes into view, crashes me to the desktop, without an error. most of the time i play this map i have been flying, once when i was in armour. my PC specs are as follows: Vista 32, AMD athlon dual-core @ 2.6GHz, 4Gb DDR2 ram(not upgradeable), ATI Radeon HD4650 1Gb V-ram. please let me know if this thread is better off in the bugs section.

We are getting reports of assets causing CTDs, on many maps. If you could provide as much information as you can remember, that may help us, such as:

- What asset were you in (type of tank, jet, etc.) and what seat of that vehicle
- What were you doing just prior to crash
- Is it always the same location
- What vehicles were around you (including planes and UAV)
- Who crashed that you know of and who didn't crash that you know of, around the area that people crashed?

right, well thinking back now, i dont think ive ever played the map on the ground, just flying.

in co-op i flew both the harrier and the cow ( MEC trans)
in Deployment on Kokan and Hookers full server i flew the Su-22 fitter (AAS large)

everytime it seems to be in one of the big cluster of statics/flags if im flying close enough to the ground. will do a quick playthrough to give you grid refs, and if possible a crash report

drove around in the uparmoured humvee in local deployment. no CTD although alot of FPS drop (from 30 to 3) in high density areas, especially the big city by the river. things kept disappearing on me, some statics once you got close enough disappeared into thin air. the water in the river disappeared from certain distances. and when i was flying the huey around the instruments and cockpit were invisible. just a black outline of the main chassis model.. has anyone else experienced this? i dont have the disappearing issue on any other map. this was the first time i played in window mode though. i also cleared all my caches before doing this test run. here are my video settings:

Awesome map, fun to play and looks gorgeous.
Only complaint I have is that I think large layer is unbalanced, I'm talking about the jets.
First of all I don't understand why US army gets Marine jets (F/A-18C and AV-8B).
Second giving US 1 F/A-18C and 3 AV-8Bs when fighting against 2 MiG-29s and 2 SU-22 makes it really unbalanced because the AV-8B is a really really bad jet compared to the SU-22 and the MiG-29. The SU-22 out turns the AV-8B any day, and the MiG-29 is so much faster that the AV-8B doesn't stand a chance.
The AV-8B is also really weak and every time it gets hit by AA it goes instantly dead every time.
I've never seen anyone do good in the AV-8B and all they do every match is just to die and waste tickets.
So it ends up with the F/A-18C taking the fight alone against 4 enemy jets that have no problems taking it out (not even the SU-22 because it turns so sharp that it is next to impossible for AAs to hit it, just like the J-10 used to be in vanilla bf2).
I'd like to see F-16s and A-10s on this layer. I know the A-10 might not be equal to the SU-22 but if you gave the SU-22 two additional bombs it might be balanced.

Could it be possible in a future tweak release to move the US airfield closer to one of the map corners instead of it's current position in the south center?? The F-18's have a very short approach coming from the map edge to work with for landing. The MEC airfield is snugly up in the northwest a'la Kashan desert and have a much easier time landing. Just something my buddies and I noticed yesterday.

Landing on the US airfield is still easy, lower ALT over the western side of the map and release the throttle. Once you then start bending in to approch the runway slow down and get a speed of roughly 750 (Dont get under 700 cause then you'll stall) for the last 200-300 meters of approch.

Just did a little attempt my self, and it went pretty good I'd say. Although it could be better.

On another note, moving the whole base isent something you just do, takes quite some effort so I dont think you should expect this anytime in the near future.

you do know you can fly into the surrounding terrain right? you have about 6Km to prep for landing mate :)

But please chaps, post gameplay feedback in feedback threads, this is for CTDs. It helps the mappers etc so much more if they can find information easily.

It would be good for admins to keep a log of debug and sending it to PR Developers.

By the way, how do you enable debug mode for the player?

Run PR in windowed mode. That's how players debug.

i have a bit of an update on my CTD issues with this map. ive played it alot more in skirmish, co op and aas layers and have found that the area that makes me CTD is the main city itself. but i dont consistently crash when im in or around the city.. ive played 3 or 4 full skirmish rounds in the city with a little lag in the beginning that improves as the game goes on, no CTDs. when im in a jet (tried with hornet and harrier) sometimes when i do a gun run or bomb run on the bridge or city ill fly through with a major FPS drop (3-5
from 20-30) and make it out okay, then every once in a while ill CTD when the city is about 300-400m away roughly. im also getting the texture on the cockpit of the f/a-18 turning black, just like i said the huey did in an earlier post. would love to hear if anyone is having any similar problems, hopefully its not just my pc and it can be resolved eventually.
