Well, if they were forced, they're not now. I'm aware of those that are though - I knew that changing some settings to "Low", or that a number of those settings displayed as "Low", were a lie, because it was plain to see in the profile Video.con files that some were being forced to medium ("2") values (actually, PRLauncher has just redefined medium as the new "Low" for some values).Skitrel wrote:Dynamic lighting and Shadows are forced settings I believe. Changing them below medium does absolutely nothing, but some (including myself) have spoken about thinking we get slightly better framerates by having them set to medium rather than off or low. Whether that's in heads or not is questionable though.
Either way, you see no difference when lowering these settings because lowering them isn't supposed to do anything.
Code: Select all
VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 2
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 2
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 2
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 0
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 0
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 1
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 1
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 1
VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x1024@60Hz
VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 4Samples
VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 0.95
VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 3It was only by chance that I noticed it was actually possible to set these to zero now as I worked to figure a way to force them off here for testing. Maybe it's a change that's been made to PRLauncher recently, or maybe it's always been that way? I don't know, I could have just missed it, stupid as I am at times (all-too often).
But, the problems still persist here, so we'll keep experimenting. Now the question is, what to try next?
