These distant codes are controlled by the viewdistance of the maps. If a thing moves into the "fog" you wont hear it...
Compare Albasrah with Kashan and youll see what I mean.
Cause I can hear every tank loud and clear. If I now increase the volume for everything I can garantee that people will say that they're too loud compared to gunshots and explosions.
