Required Age?
Hey i hope i don't get banned for this but what is the required age for playing PR? I'm 13 and think i am mature enough ( i know that sounds very weird). I saw BlueDrake playing the game and wanted to know if there was a age gate for the game. Should i come back within a few years when i am older? I really would love to play and i can list some ways as to why i think i am mature enough if required.

Re: Required Age?
Well you are only allowed to buy BF2 with 16...
But if you think you are mature and can follow orders I personally don't see a problem why not.
In short: No theres no required age to play BF2

What Micro said, if you can play the game in a mature manner and you are able to listen to your squadleader etc.
If so, Welcome and see you on the battlefield (After reading the manual ofcourse

Re: Required Age?
Those are quite incomplete answer, if I may say so.
Yes you can buy and play Project Reality without age restrictions, you wont get kick or banned BUT using microphone is required in all most all servers and no one can say how most players will react when hearing a 13 years old's voice, maybe if you read the manual and know the basics you'll have a good time but if your first sentence is "How can I get a sniper?" you will have a bad time.
This being said I hope you'll have a good time playing PR.

Dont question the wikipedia! Just because it reports different things on different languages does not make it unreliable source!

Re: Required Age?
If you have a microphone, follow your orders, stay patient and don't get on people's nerves you will have fun
But you need to understand that it is far more complicated than it seems in videos, it's far more difficult than it looks and that there are (many) things that you just should not do if you don't have expierience with them (commanding, flying, vehicles, HATs, IEDs etc...)
And probably the game's jargon (slang), coordinate system, server laws, abbreviations, etc will confuse you at the beginning.
You should check out this thread here: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr ... ality.html

As someone who started playing at 13, good luck. The general community hates younger players. General community referring to those players that don't post on these forums and just play.
It hasn't changed, I still witness bullying of kids on a constant basis. Just an unfortunate fact of the Internet.

Yeah, you're gonna have to have thick skin. I think for the most part people will just make fun of a younger player a bit, but you may find some really malicious characters as well.Peeta wrote:As someone who started playing at 13, good luck. If you see me (Psyrus or Psyrus.jp or Psyrus.au) in game (generally squad leading) feel free to join my squad as I welcome players whether they are 10 or 100 years old... as long as they play the game properly (aka with regard to teamwork & following orders)

Re: Required Age?
If you play the game maturely and listen to the more experienced players until you get some more experience, you will only get trouble for the way you sound with squadleaders who only lead the squad because they didn't want to join a good infantry squad playing PR the way it's meant to.
I can't remember of any good squadleader that will care about how you sound unless you talk more than you should.

Dude I started when I was like 12 or 13, that was so many years ago. Doesn't matter about age but actions, most people my age at that time preferred to just teamkill and not use a mic.

Re: Required Age?
Yeah this is what I was most afraid off, when someone hears a younger voice and just doesn't give them a choice because of the automatic assumption that they would be screaming all the time. I've been kicked for just saying one word at times during games like battlefield 3. I wish some people would just give me a chance and not automatically assuming that I would be like the rest of the younger players, shouting and squealing into the mic at all times.O_turista_portugues wrote:Those are quite incomplete answer, if I may say so.

I'll be sure to read the manual and not ask where to get a sniper

I'll be sure not to mwahaha again, that was failed attempt to lighten up my post. I did come to realise audio was a key component to the game while watching Blue Drakes videos, at least now I'll know how important it is. Ill read the manual multiple times as you have said, and try to pick up some tips from other people before trying the game. I'll be sure not to tryout any weird things. Note that when I do add weird things to my posts like smilies it's to lighten up my post, I don't like coming off as too confident and 'I am better than you' like a major factor of people my age online.HeadlessChicken86 wrote:When people start bullying kids its almost never about the kids just being themselves. When it comes to 12 year olds they usually behave like shit and are pretty cheeky. Especially in the internet. They just pretend to know everything, tell weird stories and act childish as fuck. People cant stand that and i can understand it. Just be nice and dont freak out (this MWAHAHAH was weird already). Just calm down if you play and be honest with people, you should be fine. Although some ******** may make some jokes aswell. But hey who cares, you cant change your age anyway.
People at your age tend to learn fast as you should know, make use of that. Once you know the game and people realize they can play with you properly they will stop.
Just read the manual, read it again, think about it and read it again. If you know the things out of the manual youre already doing better than most of the other guys on the server. I guarantee it.
AND LISTEN FOR SOUNDS, audio is almost more important than visual in pr. This is the only game i know where you sometimes have to follow peoples voices (for example when youre a medic and have to find a wounded guy somewhere on the ground who needs you to revive him) or simply kill enemies without even seeing them. Its weird but fun, you will see.
Also stay away from trolls, search some good and nice players to play with. May be you find some friends aswell.
Enjoy.
Edit: Patrick how do you find out who is experienced and who is not btw? I would like to know. And i would like everyone else to do the exact same thing pls. Theres so many unexperienced guys on the servers who wont listen for shit...
Also being experienced with the game mechanics doesnt mean you know what youre doing. If youre a bad player youre simply a bad player. Complicated game..

Re: Required Age?
You sound like you might have a chance, others have done it before, but you will have a slightly harder time. Don't worry, noone's going to punish you, but you'll have to expect some roughness from the player base. It's not your fault if that happens (unless you actually did something stupid, of course), you'll have to have a thick skin as has been said before.
I'd suggest getting to know a bunch of people who let you tag along and learn from them. If you can follow orders and have patience (such as not shooting when seeing an enemy even if it'd be easy, when you were told to hold fire), then you'll quickly be able to convince a few fellow players of your own skill.
I used to start playing games like this when I was about 15, and I rarely had problems, because I'm a patient and quiet person when I have to be.
From what I've seen of you so far, you don't seem to have any problems. The fact that you came here to ask for instructions shows that you probably have the right personality.
Don't worry too much about smilies and Mwhahaha's, I've seen that from older people. The mid-20 guys are usually the worst

Re: Required Age?
Age is less important than the willingness to work with your squad and listen to what your SL wants. Don't stray too far from your squadmates, don't talk needlessly all the time (everyone likes to joke and tell stories but there is always a time and place), and be ready to fight at any given time because in PR an enemy could be anywhere excluding main base...and even then you can sometimes capture that flag.
Experience is gained through making mistakes and learning to avoid making them again, if you don't make any mistakes to won't be able to make the proper adjustments. So get out there, make some friends and have fun because I can tell you now that this community is all about having the right attitude and the right squad.

Biggest mistake every kid makes: Doesn't shut the fuck up. I don't need the class clown nor do I need a squad narrator. I need someone who will watch their sector, call out contacts, USE FIRE DISCIPLINE, and just generally act like they know what's up.
You don't need to feel like the center of attention in a squad. I'm constantly watching all members of my squad and making mental notes on their behavior. Those who act out are generally kicked out either then or next round.
Even then, people will still discriminate and just be ********. I once had a very experienced PR Developer boot me from his squad quoting my voice as the reason. Granted, some server admins might not tolerate that but I have a feeling his status as a prestigious developer had something to do with it.
So yeah, it will either go well for you or suck. And it will vary based on the SL.
