Keep losing connection to servers

Post by Tofu »

As the title says, I keep losing connection to servers. Everytime I play into an hour or so, my screen freezes for a bit and I'm kicked out of the server with an error message saying "Lost connection to the server." and I have to rejoin the game again in hopes that I have enough time to rejoin the squad and finish the round with my k/d ratio intact. But that usually doesn't happen. This has been happening for days and it's ruining my Project Reality experience, it's like the moment I'm having super fun with my squad and stuff, I end up losing connection to the server. It's frustrating me to no end. :cussing:

I have been having a similar problem, I have tried all of the fixes nothing works. ie: turned off all firewalls, anti virus and programs running in the background. Tried doing complete re installs of everything in different orders. Tried playing with my router and ports and dns. I dont know what to do now.

P3ar|y , mind posting your system specs so i have it for future reference.
How did you set the cpu affinity for prbf2.exe and prlauncher.exe? manually or with a third party program?

That's the whole thing P3ar|y. I Doubt it's my ISP aka Net. Your from Australia, and i'm from New York. I Doubt your net is having problems and mine is 2. It's only PR i have a connection problem. It's an old game so it must be something with something else other then my isp. But if your saying setting my affinity to 1 is a fix. Why would disconnecting from server have do with CPU. That's Strange. But ill give it a try. But also how do you even do that? Task Manger when the game is up and go to it's task and go to Properties?

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C START /affinity 1 PRLauncher.exe"

I put that on my shortcut target command in properties and it worked straight away no issues it just turned my icon into a cmd pic instead of pr for some reason.

although i think it may have created a problem with mumble where it loses the link to bf2 for some reason. wich makes it hard to communicate but mumble still works on and off just keeps connecting and reconnecting. wich i am trying to work out in another thread no one seems to have an answer to it..

try it again don't give up. There are plenty of things you can try, like set the game to run as admin, disable visual themes, run in compatability mode for xp sp3.

Yeah i can't give upp your right homie lol. Gonna try alot more. But it's depressing. Do you happen to have Steam? Add me so i can ask you some advice and questions if you don't mind. ill try the Run As Admin, and Compatability mode for XP Sp3

I just tried running it on 2 cores instead of 1 and it still seems to be working, but to set that i think you need to put 9 instead of 1 in the affinity rating ill test it out soon.

you can download bitsum processlasso free edition, 32 or 64 bit depending on your OS, and it can automate the affinities.

I Tested again. Still willing to test more on this TGIF. Kinda upset. i was in the zone. Playing as an AR about to lite up a squad with my squad then my Game Freezes then goes Connection to Server Lost. Then brings me back to the Server List. I Did Affinity 9 and Ran as Admin. Any other ways to test? i can't do compatability mode for xp sp3 cause it's a cmd file starting the launcher and theres no properties in the file?

Im not to sure have you tried lowering your graphics settings? also disable any background programs like steam, raptr, xfire, pretty much anything that you dont need to be running to play the game.

I Can test that one more time with having Steam off but i doubt that would be the issue. Cause i've tried playing PR in the past with nothing running but window processes! Never worked. Soo i feel like testing it again would be pointless. Also ive been trying to see if your on steam but you haven't signed in since you added me? But my Graphics are on High but i can lower them to Low, Medium for a test.
