More Maps

Post by Bluedrake42 »

So yeah we've saved a few gigs of space not having to download BF2... we should fill all that space with new maps. There are so many old PR maps I want to see again... like... SO MANY.

Seriously we have like... maybe over 100 maps... where the only thing that needs to be done is update the spawns and stuff, all the terrain is there. If the only reason we aren't seeing these in PR Standalone is file size... I think I speak for everyone when I say I'll take the hit.

Hell it'd be nice to see the BF2 vanilla maps PR-ified while we're at it.

Like I want to just go here: Battlefield 2 Custom Maps ? Downloads ? BF-Games.net and start asking every single person for permission to convert their maps to PR. I bet we'd at least get 50.

Nostalgia does not always equal quality...

Remember Hills of Hamyngong? was pretty cool right? nope. that map and almost all the other maps were removed for a reason, and thats not only HD space.

I don't think that's a good idea; however they may replace Xiangshan with one of those older Chinese-maps.

Sunset City Remake would be very cool though :D

Blue, is pretty fast to audit a map to PR. If the map is already 100% done, it can be converted to PR very fast. But most of the Bf2 maps are too small for PR. While many would work great for 20x20, they would be too small for 50x50.

But anyways, i would love to see a whole bunch of old maps, even karkand lol

How on earth can vBF maps be a good extra to the game if you see all those nice 2 and 4km PR maps?!!
In comparison the vBF maps are just ****.
Can't speak for the older PR maps though because never played those.

want maps?

Be like Rabbit and step up. Get into editor and start making them.

Right now mappers are really needed for new content and some factions are not released because of lack of quality maps.

Hint: Norway, Polish and rest.

Blue, I believe everybody craves for new maps (I do sooo bad), but it should not be done by a cost of a quality. And important point you mentioned - nowadays with harddiscs drives capacity measured in TB, few more GB would not affect anyone i guess.

I think there are currently ~15 great maps at a testing phase. Just remember how many map test event we had last 2 months.

I hope, that testing will continue, and we will get big map update soon (before summer would be great) with:

Rabe, Outpost, Karez Offensive, Borovsko Bridge, White Dragon, Temelin, Adak, Road to Perdition, Grozny, Dragon Orchard, Shahadah, Steel Viper, Bamyan, Sapphire, Operation Bobcat... those are best candidates to become war arenas soon.

Do not forget about winter maps, falkland maps and wwII maps.

With only those we get so much content (different layouts, sometimes night layers), with infinite replayability.

I just hoped that more of the new maps that all seem finished like grozny and other maps (from rabbit) that were tested in the events would be included in the patch.

Are they not finished yet or why were all those maps not included?

v1.3 wasn't a content patch for a reason. More maps= more bugs. Which is the opposite of what this patch was about.

That and on most maps we have no information on or development updates or no contact with mapper. So seemingly most of them don't even want to be included.

More community maps will be seen in future updates, and even more PR team maps ;) Don't worry about that. And as usual I like to bring up that PR has 40+ official maps, more then any FPS I know. I doubt we should start including every map we find on the internet just for the sake of quantity at this point;

vBF2 Maps tend to be arcadeish. Not really PR 1.3 standards in my opinion.
