You have directories set to Read Only mode.

two ways to fix:

First way:
1. rename D:\Users\User\Documents\ProjectReality\Profiles\ to D:\Users\User\Documents\ProjectReality\Profiles-Old\
2. Run C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\PRBF2.exe once, you will get to main screen and says you must use launcher to run PR. Close game.
3. Start PRLauncher normally.

Second way:
Go to D:\Users\User\Documents\
Right Click the ProjectReality\ directory, select Properties.
Make sure you have Read/Write permissions set to ALLOW for your Windows Login account for everything except Special Permissions.
Click APPLY

What would you recommend doing if none of the above specified ways work?

Kurok did you realy pressed apply button? because i think i just pressed OK and still had this bug, but then retried and pressed APPLY button. Its working for me. When you press apply button you got that confirmation thingy poping out for 1 sec :)
I'm talking about second way.
Hope it will help.

Thanks for answering but I can assure that I executed everything 1:1 at least 2 times.

I'm doing a test to see if adding these files from vBF2 will solve the issue.

Download and extract this folder into your mods/pr/settings directory and try:
settings vBF2

Make a copy of your ProjectReality folder before trying this. It's safe but see if this fixes the issue and reply with results :)
