Flooded city

Post by LiquidSnake »

Sry for another one of those "this'd be awesome" threads... but i just have to tell u my Idea:

How about a floated map? A city in somewhere in near-/mid east which got flooded because of a Storm or something like that... or a broken dam. The Insurgents (I think) would actually control the city, because they saw their chance in this flooding. Then the good Americans/Brits or even MECs come to capture the city. The clue is, that the attackers have to work with boats, APCs, Lilbirds and BH (or the counterparts of the other countries)... so there were no attack-vehicels (maybe just one attack LB). I think the city should be a little bit smaller than muttrah, but the buildings mustn't have a lot of distance between each other, maybe connected with metal/wooden planks. the Insurgents would have no vehicle and no static weapons (excepting some LMGs or something like that). The map would contain 7 Controlpoints and two different modi: US/Brit/Mec have one uncapable and have to assault or both factions have 3 controlpoints with one white Flag in the middle. Time of assault should be like morning (with a bit of fog) or lunchtime :D . The US/Brits/MEC would start from a the other side of the river/bay. But the coolest thing in this idea is, I think, that the attackers would have to drive through those little water-streets between the buildings. And i think that the biggest part of the city should have "slum-style" with buildings of low height.

US/BRITS/MEC vehicles: 1APC 4Boats 2Little birds and one attack LB or a BH(Merlin, Mi8 (or Mi17? dunno anymore))
Insurgents: NOthing :D (some LMGs and maybe a truck with .50 mounted on the "back" (that white one) to shoot all the light vehicles (boats, LBs)

Like I said, there could be those 2 AAS modes or what would be nice too i think: xtraction. The Insurgents have not only captured teh city... they even hold President Bush or an oilprince as a hostage which must be resqued.

The lack of firepower (vehicles) on the side of the insurgents is getting compensated with the roofclimbing Hunters and those 2 classes with RPG.

umm BTW the name should be like "al akwabakalabanahag city" or so :/

Post your opinions :) Greetings from Switzerland

Now Now fullforce, I like this idea seems like it would be kinda hard to implement though.

I think this is a really cool idea if it can be done lagwise.
Sort of a Venetian battle.
There was some village in the path of that dam in egypt, the aswan i think, and this could be like that village in the path of the Kubra dam and the terr's are using it to hold some prince or whatever and the water offsets the US/UK vehicle advantage.
The US/UK has only one day to rescue him or pay the ransom before the village floods.
With lots of ladders and ramps and just in the jump range buildings it would be a blast.
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

Well, the insurgents would have to be able to get back onto the buildings after they fall or get pushed off. And the USMC could use these same methods of getting onto the buildings. So if you were going for a insurgents have the buildings, USMC has the waterways style fight, I don't think it would end up that way.

But an interesting idea nonetheless.

I don't think that there would be a problem with lags cuz its just a normal city with a higher waterlevel :/

true, think of Wake Island. Plenty of water, and I doubt the buildings would increase cpu usge THAT much. It would be cool, i like the idea of jumping from one roof to another with my RPG following an advancing Marine boat... yay

you could make very few ways to get out of the water, or once you fell in, you only have access to limited buildings that dont really connect to other main buildings. That way, insurgents should really try to not fall off, but if they do, they can still get to a roof or two. AND, it keeps the marines from just rushing each building...

but, especially around spawn points, equal access to buildings should be a must... i think...

a story could be that the mec blew up a damn and flooded the city further down the river. couldn't you make the city and then just raise the water level?

another story is that your mother left the tap on XDDDDD just kiddin'

Thread title changed to reflect what you meant. :-D

Does sound like a pretty good idea. Not sure how many floods happen in the middle east, perhaps insurgents in southern asia though. But that would require taking the Chinese heads and putting them on insurgent-like bodies etc etc to be believeable.

Thx @ BrokenArrow :D

Maybe we could place it in Africa? when the Monsoon does his work. But I think in this case the current Inurgent skins won't fit the African style too.
But Does it really have to be that reallistic? Maybe that was THE flooding of the century in Iraq/Afghanistan :D (every country has a flooding of the century ^^). And btw the East is not like "everything is desert and there's only sunshine"

Well... now we need a mapper who could do that :/
