Curious as to why weapons have low damage
I've noticed that most weapons seem to take 3-4 hits to kill a target and 2 hits to the head (this is even worse with the shotgun). Now I don't really have a problem with this I was mainly just wondering why you havn't put the damage on a higher scale?
It actually seems pretty balanced except for a few scenarios similar to one vs multiple enemies. (By the time your able to put 3 shots into that first enemy the other one will have already turned and will have started shooting)
I can see how higher damage could be out of the question currently with the pin point accuracy with most rifles, would it be possible to create a ironsight sway or a small cone of fire? Im usually against cone of fires but if our sights are as steady as a rock all the time it might be needed.
Another idea is to somehow prevent that enemy from being able to jog and dive into the near by bushes after being plugged with bullets...
Let me know your thoughts

It's mostly down to hit detection. Although the M16 does seem to be poorer than the rest of the weapons.
Played a game at the weekend and with my poor aim I shot at a guy after he had already run past me clearly missing him completely, but still managed to kill him. I guess his hit box or something was not where the player was on my view.

They don't have low damage. M16A2 burst to the torso = death to unarmoured targets. At least that was in .4. I'm not sure if the M16 damage has been changed since then.
Those were great times on Muttrah, being the first into an alley, crouching down as I spot two enemies standing with their backs to me around an ammo bag, bringing the sight up, firing a single burst into the back of the left one, moving the weapon as he drops dead, then catching the second one with a burst to the torso before the body of the first one has even hit the ground.
/happy memories

More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

I think it is a fact more or less universally acknowledged that the BF2 engine is pure shite.
Many times when you see a 'hit' or a series of them - that's occurring within your graphics/data system but it's not happening as a distributed event on the server or anyone else's computers... how often do people (rightly) ***** about shooting some guy ten times in the head (or whatever) only to be brought down by a single shot (or whatever)... it's a lag issue sometimes but I think its really mostly and inescapably down to the self-evident truth that the BF2 engine is pure shite.

I think that HK21 can kill with 1-2 hits as well since it uses 7.62 Nato too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HK21wooly-back-jack wrote:G3?
I tested stock guns in singleplayer but I'm not sure about this. It should as it has lower rate of fire and higher recoil than saw.
So could any of devs confirm it?
Does HK21 do higher or lower damage damage than G3?

Someone please tell me that the above is irony.

G3 (primary MEC rifle)PuN!sHer wrote:which weapon has the 7.62x51 cal. ?![]()
M14 (USMC DMR)
L7 GPMG (British GPMG, found on the landrover, saxon and merlin)
HK21(E, supposedly) (MEC LMG)
L96* (PLA/MEC sniper rifle)
M24* (USMC sniper rifle)
M134 Minigun (blackhawk door gun)
M240 (co-ax MG on USMC armour)
Also, the SVD, PKM and the co-ax guns on the MEC/PLA(?) armour with 7.62x54mmR probubly falls into the same damage band.
*damage may be different for sniper rifles
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

We've got to remember that these guys have done a great job with what they were given. They started with vanilla BF2, with all it's bugs, glitches and imperfections, and I say they've done a damned good job. It's just unfortunate that BF2 was so poor to begin with.

it is like having to shoot into a hall of mirrors when your target is behind you and there aren't actually any mirrors, it is just you hallucinating.

Im pretty sure that by "cone fire" he means cone of fire. As in there is an invisible cone, the gun is at the pointed side, and the bullets can go anywhere in the circle on the opposite side of the cone.

You mean, as in the single most rediculous aspect of BF2 which meant it didn't matter how skilled you were, you'd still get pwned by some noob holding a better rifle?Fenix16 wrote:Im pretty sure that by "cone fire" he means cone of fire.
