with all the people shouting out omg there will be more tk's

why arnt there more blue on blue incidents in reality?

is it because in reality you actually have to identify your target before you gun the unlucky **** down ?

therefore if we took more time in PR to identify targets, rather than shoot first say sry and complain about the punish later, we wouldnt need the Minimap to tell us who is friendly.

and the way to slow us all down by making us actuallly think before going on a mindless killing spree is to remove our primary method of navigation and orientation.
once we have worked out that if we dont stick together we get lost or killed. Voip, teamwork and better gameplay will prevail.

another thing altogher is the veichles and aircraft losing there minimap this would be somewhat more challenging but all they need is a good SL using the M map and verbally talking them into there target either in the 3rd seat of tanks/apc's or on the ground acting as a Forward spotter for aircraft.

whatever the DEV's see fit to happen will happen so let them do the hard work and figure out whats best for the community.

Looks like some voters wanted to have fun and voted both yes and no... 54.94% and 50.62% don't quite add up to 100%

I dont vote yet because its a little extreme poll and dont give another options and ideas. I vote YES if they remove that map but add another one more realistic like map of ArmA or something with military map. I vote NO if the only thing is to remove the map.

Best regards to all.

Since it isnt realistic for all soldiers to have GPS(i would think :) ) on them at all times, i would say yes. However, i would think that some personel would, so i would have to disagree with its removal. Also, Im quite sure it would represent something similar to what a Pilot or Crewmember would have onboard whatever they are manning. so no :)

perhaps this poll would have been better with more options.

If its removed will we be able to communicate between squads for the purpose of knowing where other squads are?
Without a commander, the dots on the map are the only way of coordinating.
Also how will a squad regroup? I mean you are bound to loose sight of you SL sooner or later, and he cant say "over here".

Dude, read the thread. We are not talking about removing the main map, only the minimap that is in your FOV at all times.

Make it an option. My option would be to keep it on. Until we get a game that does not have to simulate situational awareness, then you should not tamper.

Is there any possible way to make the mini map a server option?

I say we do a 1 release test with no min map around 0.8 or 1.0 but make it so, that with the release of a small patch, it can be added back.

The test should last in the region of 2 months minimum, and precise feedback would be taken throughout the test.

This I think would be fair for all people, irrelavent of opinon becuase no one actualy knows what it would be really like, and this would for once and for all show the affects of such a change and from the affects, all people, including the DEVs can then make a thousand times for accurate overall FINAL descision.

you can test this right now in 0.5!!!!

simply increase transparency for all HUD to 100%, or near 100%!

I have everything set to 95%, does not hamper my performance one bit, I rarely if ever look at my minimap.

Only thing that sucks about this change is that the transparency affects my 'M' map as well :(

So if I want to look at the map, I must use CAPSLOCK, which is not as cool as the M map...

If we were gonna get rid of the minimap would the real-time elements of the "m" map still be included? I reckon it'd be a bit half hearted to leave it as it is (unless its hard coded).

Keep the minimap, its very hard to keep situational awareness in an FPS because its like walking around in a neck brace with blinders on, minimap helps you move with your team without spending the whole time looking at them.

I say no we need for when we report enemies. If we dont have it then the report system is useless.
