Wait, how do you mean that?
Do you mean you can't have bits fly off of the thing depending on how much damage it takes and/or where the damage is? Or are you talking about "Critical Hits" like tanks have (IE: Front and Back of the Treads are 2 shot kills with anything AT and only one with TOW)? Since I'm pretty sure they have them. Vodnik can take two to the side, but one AT rocket in the open back and it's flaming for a second before boom.

I think I may have got it wrong. Here's an example of what I mean:

If I was aiming at the turret of a Challenger 2 with a L-AT then I could not do damage to that specific area. It kind of just spreads the damage.

I really didn't explain it very well.

Ahhhh the shortcomings of the BF2 engine... I remember playing Red Baron2 way back in the day, and methodically stripping people of parts of their planes. I used to target their landing gear first, then take out their left wing and watch as they spun uncontrollably to the ground. It was great! But unfortuneately I've looked into this as well... it is impossible in the BF2 engine

Most jets and helis have two engines for a good reason... if a heat seeking missle takes one out, then the other engine can take them home. I honestly dont care how many rockets it takes to take down any type of aircraft... However, I want to see it so no matter how many rockets, bullets there are.. The plane/helo doesnt POOF explode and turn instantly into charcoal. The cockpits have fire protection.. Yes if the plane is toast its toast.. But the pilots dont instantly die. Give them a chance to bail out.

That is more like it, what would be REALLY cool is that when your going down, and you look out to the side of your cockpit, you see your wings in flames, warning lights going off, the pilots heart racing, trying to reach the ejection handles, the cockpit becoming engulfed by flames, and suddenly, your blacked out, all you can think of is that 9 key. Your parachute opens, seconds later, you wake up, your on the ground, and look you around, you hear the rotors of a helo and special forces there to recover you.

THAT would be thee best thing that ever happened to BF2.

What would make planes twice as exciting is when your hit by a missile, like the wing or something, your wing is blown off, and you start to spin out of control.
lol, that one makes me laugh............. modern aircraft do not tell the pilot whats wrong, they feed the pilot data to observe and figure out what's wrong. for example, F16 gets shot at and the AA misile shreds up the left engine here's what happens

1. Fire warning goes off, two basic sounds used for fire warnings depending on the plane, 1. fast ringing loud Bell, used on most modern boeing aircraft, or 2. a very loud beep. each is acompanied by the master Warning light, (there is a master caution light for non serious issues like............Hydraulic pressure at the ramp)

2. the engine's Vibration levels are going to go insane, EPR is going to be messed up and EGT is going to be abnormal.

3. pilot pulls out a checklist(this one's memorized) and procedes to shutdown the bad engine, the Fly By wire will auto-compensate for the down engine by adding extra yaw
