Al Basrah 0.6/7

Post by .:iGi:.BLACKWIRE »

I was thinking now that we have civilians, it would be cool to add a new kit for 'crowd control' to the Brits. Kit it out with the SF launcher to fire tear gas and give them a gas mask, knife, L85. This would mean they could move in and take down the civies/insurgents. This would need to be a limited kit though!

Also, playing as Insurgents you are dramatically out gunned by the new IFVs and I'm sure when the Challengers/Apaches are added and working they will have no chance! So... more RPGs please!!! (The 3x zoom makes it impossible to move around, especially when all the buildings are destroyed).

Your thoughts, please..

They did, before we got there. Now, not so much.

Yeah, me a few guys were throwing around a Less-Than-Lethal kit idea for the Brits to track down those stone throwing annoyances. I think we settled on a Bean Bag shotgun, and a tear gas launcher as their primary "YOU, calm the **** down!" equipment.

As for the out gunning, yes, I agree. Insurgents are bent over and spanked by the British War Machine, even with most servers' metaphorical ban on Apache use because of lag, we still get our Allah worshiping butts whooped. But a balance change would be simple as adding a few more Spawn Cars (Four just isn't enough, 20 is too much.) and lessening the Brit's APC *cough exploding automatic sniper rifle troop spitting impregnable fortress cough* count would balance things out better than doing something that would just lead to more tube nubing.

Unbalanced teams doesn't make for fair gaming. That is my point essentially.

Basrah is currently missing a bunch of pickup kits. There should be a few more weapon caches and RPGs on the map.

Somethign like this would be awesome. Those civvies are so %$&#ing ANNOYING! Especially when you get stoned due to pissing out blood and then getting a rock to the head. That's just plain embarressing.

How about a tazer? Or a pepper ball gun!?!? SWAT Style ******!

If less people were playing as civies, there would be more guns on that map, therefore more competition, therefore more balance.

I like your sig Grobbie.

That's SWAT, this is Military. SWAT uses non/less than -lethal stuff that has little or no margin of error in hitting too hard. We need military grade gear for this. We aren't fighting some stupid 'gang' fighting for no reason other than money or drugs, we're fighting a friggen terrorist faction fighting for their religion, we're against people who wear turbans(Not meant to be racist) and not 'bling bling'.

Now, first thought is Active Denial System, but A. Still in development. B. American, not British. C. Featured on Future Weapons, so that's an instant "NO!"

I have yet to find any military specific Less Than Lethal or Non-Lethal weapons, only Non/Less then Lethal munitions, all of which would boil down to the Tear Gas Launcher from Special Forces.

The Bean-Bag shotgun is still possible, but I have yet to find a source that says a Military use it, so not sure if it is realistic.

But still, think about it, this would be useful for hunting down Civies and for taking the Insurgents out. Maybe even add/modify a class to have a Gas Mask so this could be an added level of strategy in urban fights.

Maybe for Al Basrah replace the Knife with a 21" metal baton to smack the civis with when they get annoying.
Nice Idea of the Tear gas launcher maybe the UGL AG36 could fire Tear Gas grenades or the britsh had CS grenades.

how about instead of bean bag shotgun a rubber bullet gun which the british army used in Northern Ireland in riots.
So have the class with Knife replaced with a Baton, rubber bullet gun or CS launcher, also seen as they still do fight against insurgents why not give them a MP5 or SA80A2 carbine.

British army baton gun... as used in riot control and now in Iraq also.

so there is an Non-lethal weapon in the british arsenal over there? that would be one hell of an ideia isn't it? give it to the spec ops or something instead of the pistol, or is it something rare?

Limited kits...we wouldnt want to have every Spec Op 2 tons of equipment, which would most likely make him ready for anything, like hes the backbone of an assault...

As for riot control units, it seems reasonable, but get rid of the knife, give them plasticuffs ;)
