New Movement speeds- Soo nice! Well done!
I'm truely amazed at the movement updates...to some its not a big deal, but to me its huge. Before everyone ran around like squirels on speed. Now if you catch someone in the open and they aren't sprinting...they are in trouble...no more running-sideways full-auto circle straffing etc. No more rediculous John Travolta Saturday night Fever dancing CQB guns blazing stuff. Now real life tactics come in...if you have a good postion...you have the advantage against someone running in the open. Now I see squads running together as you can no longer fly in and out of combat unhurt while full-auto blazing away...when things got bad you previously could just dodge out no problem...not anymore...no more giving the lone wolfs the advantage. The new walk, now models walking with your gun up and ready to fire...not running with your gun ready to fire (unrealistic obvously). Its just better and sooo nice. Amid other things, this is a real nice change along with the realistic accelleration and extra sprint meter. Battles now look and feel much more realistic.

...and it solves a great deal of the hit detection problems of vBF2VipersGhost wrote:I'm truely amazed at the movement updates...to some its not a big deal, but to me its huge. I also like the new movement, accelleration & decelleration and run durations.
The run is now more of a trot, the walk now more of a tactical pace and there really isn't any more sprint.
I also think the tweaks we did to hit detection are working. I've noticed a lot less "peek around a corner, get killed 1s afterwards" stuff.

I think it's mostly good, and there's really no argument to speeding it all back up again other than just liking fast gameplay, which doesn't get much play around these parts so I wouldn't even bother saying it.
In playing it I find that I could probably live with all of it (the slower accel and deccel, the slower side to side, etc) except for the slow sprint.
What about keeping all these new slower speeds for the side stepping and all that, and keeping the slower acceleration stuff, but increasing the top speed of the sprint - only sprinting straight ahead basically.
Because that would still eliminate all the issues this speed change was meant to eliminate (side stepping at corners, popping in and out...) but keep the sprint at more realistic levels. Speeding the sprint back up wouldn't make it so people could side step and dodge around any more than they can in 607, so I think it's a good idea to make it faster again, just because, when I play I do notice all the new slower stuff with the accel and all that, and it seems to feel ok. The only thing that doesn't feel so ok is when you are sprinting across a road or something, and the character just feels so slow.

earlier in jabal our squad managed to come in from the city and advance all the way to the bridge without all the stop and go sprint nonsense of vBF2, haven't played much but i can tell the play styles had changed from the first 20 min i spent on it. maybe i was just in a good squad but we were flanking the oil storage facility from the south while the armor moved in from the east. i had the support kit and was mowing down any marine that decided to leave his commander emplacements. it's just great to see all the pieces of the puzzle come together.

Yeah its interesting...I like the ability to jog with the sprint though and cover lots of ground realistically. If sprint was real fast then you wouldn't be able to use it very long and model it within RL terms. I'm sure some dudes can sprint a ways but with huge maps I'd rather have the current fast jogging pace for covering ground...otherwise you sprint and then are stuck with that slow tactical-walk in the open. Yes it'd be nice to have a third gear but if I had to pick between the two I think the current jog fits into the game better without stretching the reality of things. I favor the slower speed of the game though and really love where its at now...I felt like the old sprint was just abused as guys just dont go darting around like.

Sounds great, downloading now.
Does this mean there is no more sprint bar, or is thst used up by fast trot?
Also what about swimming, is there still two speeds?
