Helicopter exit by roping down
I've always thought that the image of a squad jumping out of a blackhawk into the fray had to be one of the greatest sights in PR, or almost any fps. However, on heavily forested maps, helicopters are limited to dropping their passengers off in clearings, mainly roads or the actual enemy CP. This leads to the squad in a very dangerous position, and as a helicopter pilot myself, I hate it when I find myself having to do just that. Wouldn't it be great if there were ropes on the helicopter? Then the pilot could hover over the forest, the squad could rope down, and the pilot could fly off, leaving the squad safe in the cover of trees, tall grass, etc. It would definitely increase the useability of the transport helicopter.

In other words, Fast Roping. It has been suggested for a while. Don't think it is ever going to happen.

@iwejfsivhj
They call it fast roping around here, and its a hot button issue. Due to engine limitations it is not possible (aka hardcoded). There are threads that pop up about this every couple of weeks. Usually when someone brings it up, they are kidding and referencing the fact that EA/DICE did a crappy job of making BF2 mod friendly. Some forum members get frustrated and take it out on the new guys when people keep legitimately asking for it, though. Don't sweat it, just search.

this is my first post here, but I've lurked for a few weeks, and I think I've figured out a solution to the fastroping issue, although it's not a 100% solution. model the chopper with rope, and then put a player seat at the bottom ( with them drawn holding onto the end of the rope, of course), the player would shift to the position, with the chopper at hover, and press E to eject. recommended not to do it from any damaging height, of course, and if you are on the position, you can be attacked with hand weapons ( to severely discourage grabbing the position and not ejecting), if possible, give damage like with the wrong kit kill if the player stays in the position too long.

I will say this, after spamming your ghetto sig you really knocked this one out of the park.
