AN/PEQ-2 on the right side of the weapon:

The big question now is, of course, M203 or vertical grip?

If you're going to put a GL on an HK416, it has to be the HK one.

You've gotta even out the distribution of tri's. You've put a ton in the rails although the sight is what's really in your face when you're playing (and it's looking very low poly). Apart from that minor proportion errors (i.e. foregrip). Can we see a wire? Cheers

Correct as always.
I forgot to mention that this is not a model that's going to end up in the game. It's simply a way for me to experiment a little, work on some techniques, try some new stuff and generally messing around (I'm actually having a laugh making the thing, always wondering what else I can whack on there to make it look even more 1337 and utterly, utterly silly). If I was going for an in-game model, I'd obviously have increased the poly count on the Aimpoint and sodded the rails, and generally paid more attention to poly count (it's about 5000 triangles right now, if memory serves) and poly distribution.

And a quick wireframe screenie for ya:

Oh, and BTW: the proportions match the reference pics I've got, so unless the pics are off, it's probably the angle of the render that screws the proportions up...

No, the size is correct, it's just too far from the mag. But I guess you can install it there in real life.

You can put it wherever you like; that's an advantage with the RIS. It depends on how long your arms are.

Nice one man!
But to be honest, the 416 would look superbe with Iron Sights!

They need to find a way to add a rail interface system to a weapon without making the whole gun look bad.

Indeed, but then I wouldn't be able to add the most possible silly little gadgets, would I?
