Tank/apc seating

Post by nick20404 »

I searched and could not find anything on this everyone always takes a tank and goes off by them selves but thats really unrealistic they should make it so you cannot switch seats inside tanks/apcs so the driver has to get in first then the gunner then the MG gunner so you always have to team up for a tank crew insted of haveing half the team grab a tank and take off to snipe with it.

One of the biggest problems with this is with APC seating. What if the gunner of the APC just happens to get kicked/disconnects and someone spawns in on the APC in position 2, which is the gunner position, and then they can't switch out of the seat until the APC comes to a full stop. You'd end up having to type fast to tell the APC to stop moving and just pray that he'll actually read the chat. Also the fact you have to have the crewman kit in position 2, so you'd end up dying anyway.

I have suggested this before in another thread, Make it so that you can drive the tank without the gunner but you cant use the turret without a driver, This would illiminate the Solo tankers. I have nothing against solo tankers WHEN there are no gunners avaible but taking off solo in a tank when there are alot of ppl that wants to go 2 or 3 in one is not nice and is a waste of the teams assets

The apc should stay at it is since its made to be used in a squad as a support weapon and having 2 men in it would greatly cut down on the squads efficiency.

In many vehicles it is possible to change position while inside the vehicle. With those vehicles you should be able to do it, but not instantaneously. If you go from driver to gunner, there should be a 10-15 second delay before you can operate the turret and vise-versa. On vehicle where you cannot, in real life, go from a position to the other, you should not be able to do it in game either. Then you'd have to exit, go to the proper vehicle hatch/entrance and enter. I know this could be the case with some tanks, although I do not know the inner layout of those in this game.

Same goes with transport vehicles. If you are in the back of a truck and want to drive, you'd have to exit at the back, walk to the driver's door and get it at that point.

That's all very nice, but implementing it is another story. Would be a nice addition to realism though.

Known issue I would say.

Adding warmup to tanks would probably olve this.

No, because sometimes when a tank I'm in takes damage, I'll have the driver get out and repair while the gunner provides cover.
