They're not.
Gunwing wrote:So why the US Army getting only M4A1s? They should have M16A4s as well. Plus the M16A4 uses the newer model of 5.56mm NATO rounds that has the same muzzle valosity as the AK-47s 7.62mm rounds. Thus it can finaly go through woods like oak, pine and even stone.
IE it was a major problem in Vietnam that the M16 could not penitrate most types of heavy wood and would not go through any kind of heavy stone work. Gave the VC/NVA huge ammounts of cover when the US Army, and USMC had to hide behind their APCs, and slow tanks that almost never saw combat.

Idiots like this talking like they have a clue about what's going on in the army because of either wiki or some damn book/movie they saw. THIS is the type of **** that pisses me off to no end because some other artard is going to read this, think, oh hey wow he sounds so confident he must be right, I'll go tell my buddies. The idiot informaiton wave propogates.
1. No, we aren't getting m4a1's. Why? Because m4a1's are full automatic, US army conventional forces don't use full auto main assault rifles. We are getting M4's.
2. M16A4 is a sign of a POG, better known as a Person Other than Grunt. No line soldier worth a damn would pick a M16 over an M4, period.
3. What the flying hell are you talking about a new 5.56mm round? The green tip bullshit we get issued? It's the closest thing to committing suicide the army has ever adopted. It sucks in all situations we find ourselves in today.
4. m4 has a muzzle velocity of ~910m/s. The standard ak-47 has a muzzle velocity of ~710m/s. This is a large reason why the 5.56mm round has such **** effects on a soft target. Slowing the round down creates much better put down power, hence why a head shot from a sub-sonic 5.56mm round basically explodes your head while a regular 5.56mm leaves a nice neat pencil sized hole.
