I think that the unlock system should be taken advantage of if it can. The little weapon select button on the top right of the class selection (used in bf2 when you earned unlocks) could be used if each class had an alternative primary weapon. First the second weapon would have to be decided and created for each class. And you wouldn't necessarily have to unlock the weapons. Servers should just have weapons unlocked (I think i saw servers do that in bf2).

The thing is in BF2 the unlocks weren't army specific so you could have the G36 even when you're MEC etc. Thats probably hardcoded :( and this mod pursues realism in that way :( (

It's just a general thought and I don't think this has been suggested before (I searched)

Has been suggested multiple times before ;) .
I doubt that we will see it though.

It is posible because EOD2 had done it, but i doubt we will ever see it because most soldiers are not issued diferent wepaons in real life unless you are special forces.

don't make it different weapons, make it like an unscoped version of a rifle/scoped version/cqc scope.

new weapons would be unrealistic but different sights and scopes would not.

Yep. And to prevent them being unusable by soldiers without the unlocks, set the normal server config to global unlocks 1.

I really dont see the point of that, if you had an option to go with scope or ironsight what would u go for, im thinking scope, the only spot that scope would not be good is in close quarters fighting in citys. and even then, you dont even need to look down the sight when your that close, its hard to miss an enemy a few feet away.

from what I understand, it requires the slot to be unlocked in VBF2

Well, it doesn't neccesarily have to be Irosights as the alternative, Reflex-Sights make for a better option in Urban areas than plain Ironsights. Also, Engineers could now choose between Shotguns and Assault rifles, and I won't even start how many options would open up for nonconventional forces (Insurgents&Militia).

That is true, and the ability for engineers to choose would be good, well i stand corected, that is for the moment.
