it would look cool if the gas masks could show up on the regular US player models and the UK player models....or can they?

Youve got civillian police mixed up with Military police.

You may have searched the site but just a simple google will tell you this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_police

Military police, Police the Military :o

Their job is to maintain the discipline of troops and order. MPs will also be involved in the criminal investigation of matters involving military property or personnel.
With respects to iraq insurgents etc MPs are used in conjunction with NATO forces to provide security and other things such as traffic control.
Some instances will involved a more heavily armed police that are used to back up civillian authorities in conflict zones that are being "stabilized" (I prefer the term exploited but hey)

Despite this the MPs main job is enforcing discipline within the military force of which it is attached to (e.g. master at arms in the navy), however in the example of the british though there are separate MPs for the navy, airforce and army police force each have powers over all three branches of the forces.

Who do you think are the police in the examples of war crimes? and the army dont just ring the local civvie police station if a load of squaddies are fighting in a squaddie bar...

Dont get me wrong I like the idea of a groovey lil police force to beat down on civvies (thats the sadistic part of me) but IRL their jobs involve other things faaaar more than running around nicking civvies in a warzone. thats still an army job, however the MP jail will probably be used. For it to be reality Youd have to arrest more of you own soldiers for going out and getting mashed, sit there guarding civvies and military personnel in jail, directing traffic, patrolling an airbase and other such mundane things. booooring... but if pubs could be built into PR... perhaps... just perhaps the MP kit would be the most useful :P

Edit: the reason for police in any instance is to enforce law, since we dont have a crime system in PR its kinda hard to have any real use for an MP. Just a different skin really

Scar, I don't recommend taking on kenway unless you want a bunch of burly dudes in body armor with big black guns busting your door in.

I think this idea has been shot down enough, so I'll give it a break.

teargas might suck, but it's useful.

just on a different note, are there any documented instances of the military using teargas in iraq/a-stan, or any other type of civilian LTL devices? just thought that would be interesting to know.

We use rubber shotgun rounds (lots of rubber pellets), nerf M203's (mostly used for warning cars), high intensity laser (usually some sort of pen), batons (the extendo ones). We had to fix bayonets once to deal with a 'riot' but a few low flying 'show of force' flights by some f16's broke them up.

Yea,instead of knife nightstick!

Mp class contents:
Nightstick
M9/L9
MP5 or M16A4 (preferrably M16A4)
Tear Gas Launcher
Field Dressing

Special option select:Gas Mask

And he would look exactly like the faction he's in (Britain/U.S.) but with an MP patch.

Nah, just take the SF kit, remove everything thats not needed, add cs grenades (throwable should be enough, or a launcher) flash's and a weapon for defense. M9/L9 or MP5/MP7/Whatever. It should not be a fighting class at all. Only as addition to a regular squad, able to use less lethal force against insurgents with civilians. The gun is only if the rest of the squad is unable to fight for him and he has to escape. And i dont think he would need a mask. The gas shouldnt reach the squad anyway.

What i want isnt another leet class, but only an addition to a squad to be able to fight against insurgents with a lot of civilians near to them.

Maybe even giving the Grenadier less lethal ammo would be enough (no cs). Or both.

Kits are mod wide if I'm not mistaken.

So by removing the spec ops kit for insurgency maps, you would remove it from ALL maps.

What about a limited, requestable, MP kit for server admins :lol :? This would give them the power to kick and ban naughty players! First they would have to find and "arrest" (knife) the player before they can kick or ban them from the server.

LOL,nedlands. But requestable MP kit would be cool.Say you have a bunker in VCP.There are tons of civies pooring in VCP,spotting stuff. So,you just run up to your local bunker, and get MP kit,and give em' a little taste of your club!

Well, the equipment can be changed on the different maps. And like we saw with the Scout/Civilian it seems to work with kits too. but nvm

The civis point is pretty moot given the stated changes to Al Basrah for .7

Spec you do make a good point about the scout/civi. It probably is possible given that. Totally forgot about that. :-/
