Pilot Briefing room
Hello every one,
i have checkted the list of already suggestions but didn't find it...
sorry
First of all, im not a pilot, so i didn't have the problems to get a plan or chopper in PR.
But sometime i can see people fighting about to be the next one on a plane/chopper. So i tought what about an modified Container or something like that as a "Briefing room" where you can enter it like an vihicle and instantly get in the plane/chopper when they respawn. So it will be saved with first come first serve, and there won't be soldiers staying around for nothing, cos they can see there is already one waiting in the "Briefing room". Also it will be a bit more realistic for doing something like an briefing delay befor flying instantly.
I hope i declaimed my suggestion understandable
thnx

Re: Pilot Briefing room
It's a good idea, but I don't think it's possible.

Re: Pilot Briefing room
Very good idea, would take some coding trickery to make it work but it might be possible.
An easier solution might be to enter the briefing room from the spawn screen. From here you could choose what you wanted to fly, and see the queues for each aircraft. So you might have 3 people queued for the merlin, 2 for the eurofighter etc. Then when you reach number one in your list you spawn in your chosed aircraft. Coding a vehicle to do what you have described would be very difficult, but coding a queue sytem in python might be achieveable.
Also, in the briefing room, if it had endless repeats of the volleyball scene from Top Gun playing, it might make people think twice about waiting 20 minutes for an aircraft....
Ok disregard the last bit....

Re: Pilot Briefing room
But... What if the helicopter is somewhere else? Would you be beamed into the helicopter when its standing somewhere in the desert? How would you be able to use a helicopter that had to land somewhere?

Re: Pilot Briefing room
You spawn in when the vehicle spawns, or there is one available on the landing pad. If its somewhere else too bad.....spawn at base, request a pilot kit and go get it. The briefing room wouldnt stop people selecting a pilot kit, it would just be a fair way of getting people into vehicles people fight over, like the A10, and bypasses those hanging around the airfield.

Re: Pilot Briefing room
great idea. So we can stop that shit that 6 ppl wait on a 2 seat chopper...
And you dont have to wait 20 min on the pad to get it.
hope this comes in next patch

i absolutely love this idea. I very much hope its possible! Beautiful idea m8 if it works you might have solved the "half a team waiting for aircraft" problem.

Re: Pilot Briefing room
Shame though. Alot of suggestions and such are usually brought up to simply introduce a method to help moderate servers. I just wish more servers had consistant admin to regulate thier own servers. Along with admin that don't abuse thier powers.
All too often when I join random servers the squads are in complete disarray... Usually ending up with the squad leader as a sniper, two other squad members in a one man tank or a one man APC, one guy in a helicopter and generally just being a complete cluster of non-coordinated zerging. Essentially turning what would have been an effective team based squad into a corny AOL VOIP chatroom. Just silly.
I don't get it really. If you are the squad leader it is your responsibility to make sure everyone in your squad is on the same page and performing tasks related to what you're doing. Not just... Mixing infantry with armor and air assets. It doesn't work that way and in all honesty you're just hurting yourself, your squad members and most of all your own team... There is a polite way to moderate the people in your squad, just take an example from what I would do.
"<Player name> please be advised, this squad is for infantry (armor, jet's, helicopters.) only. If you want to use armor (infantry, jets, helicopters.) feel free to do so, but please join a squad or make one that is specifically for that role. Otherwise you're welcome to join us if you wish to participate in our objective."
That's it. A simple and clear statement that will help filter out certain players. A majority of players will respond and say "Okay" and they'll leave the squad under thier own power and join up in a squad for what they were trying to do. Or they may even take the piece of equipment back to main base and join up with you to perform your tasks. If the person doesn't reply or ignores your orders you have the full right to kick them from squad, you have already done your part to explain what's needed and you shouldn't feel guilty.
In all honesty, I wish more squad leaders would be more assertive in sticking to the squad objective. Essentially if all squad leaders did this, they themselves in a way become a small server admin. Because this would force players to have to join a squad that is actually participating in achieving something. Rather than vegitate in a squad of lame ducks with no common goal other than finding someone to shoot.
With that said, it would probably get rid of the need to devise a "Pilot Breifing Room." altogether.

Re: Pilot Briefing room
Thnx for the replay guys,
indeed there should be an solution for the "alone in the field" choppers.
What also can be made is, that you can't request Pilot Kits anymore and only get it automaticly by entering the "Briefing Room". I recomment atleast think about a solution like this for the "pilot waiting queue" that sometimes destroy the teamplay on servers.
Even that im not a pilot, i hope this can be realized, for the sake of all.
thnx

Re: Pilot Briefing room
sorry to ruin it but no, This would be spammed and would result in a mass amount of aircraft in the air.And takes alot of coding to do it, i would rather see the Mb's spent on maps not this.

Exactly what I was thinking. This way ppl will fight/*****/teamkill to get into the briefing room first.
I think this problem is solvable only by the players themselves.

Re: Pilot Briefing room
Plus, if it is a actual room then that would only waste players even more because they wouldn't even be defending the base like one could now.
Or, at least, man the AAs.
But it can't happen anyway, so no worries.

Re: Pilot Briefing room
Not to mention if your waiting in a little room for a plane for forever doing nothing in your little safezone it would encourage people to AFK alot. Then you have some guy first in line for an aircraft who's not even there to fly it.

If the map just had rovers they would be fighting over them too.

Re: Pilot Briefing room
Ya i see, i also got a hint of an clan mate that it can be solved also by limiting the Pilot kits, this is also easyer to realize.
