Aircraft speed change

Post by Gamerofthegame »

Right, I looked and didn't find any already suggested for it in the above topic for such purposes.

Is it possible to beable to change the throttle stuff on aircraft (Namely Jets, but I suppose Helis could use it too...) so that instead of juggle tapping W to keep the throttle around 30% or whatever, it would instead stay there without any tampering.

Basically, Hit W and it goes up. Don't hit W and it stays there.

Maybe hit shift W and it goes up dramatically. AND afterburners. And shift S and it just goes down dramatically.

This would greatly make Jets easier, and might give Helicopters more control. Not that they really have any problem in my eyes.

Small suggestion that could do lots. Or it might be hardcoded. :|

Exactly. I don't want to shell out for a new joystick just because its technically better. Its not fair. Especially to those on a budget *raises hand*

Heh. I have a saitek X52 as well :) I prefer flying with the keyboard though as it's easier to go back to infantry.

Most things possible can be found here.

I got a Cyborg 3D gold given to me by some Christian fundamentalist guy, who ran a youth club where my band practise, who liked to beat up young South Asian for "causing trouble" :p

It has a throttle, HAT, twisty rudder control and plenty of buttons so it'll do me. I'm sure you guys can find some 2nd hand joystick for next to nothing.

The only two things i can think now are a couple shots in the dark.

1. A long delay in the gears and use the after burner button to gear up fast.

2. Multiple seat positons with multiple engines that are set at different speeds.

I agree with creating a method of throttle control by the use of the keyboard system as it would be a good idea. If any of you have played a game called Planetside (Yeah, I know it's old and no where near Project Reality in any form.) however they had a rather simple throttle control method. When inside of a vehicle pressing the 1 to 0 buttons produced the following 1 = 10%, 2 = 20%, 3 = 30%, 4 = 40%, 50 = 50%, 6 = 60%, 7 = 70%, 8 = 80%, 9 = 90% and 0 = 100% throttle. But if you wanted to use the W and S keys to control your throttle it would simply override the "cruise throttle control" and it would continue from there. However that may be difficult to do as BF2 has vehicular ammo types to be switched using those very same buttons.

However, I use the Saitek X52 and the Saitek Rudder Pedals to go with it. It offers a signficantly increased amount of precision while flying or driving. I couldn't imagine going back to using a mouse and keyboard while flying a jet or helicopter, or driving a tank or an APC. Simply promotes a very smooth ride (Providing the terrain permits.) and enables my gunners the capablity to fire on the move. Along with advancing with infantry units for providing cover.
