Repair points

Post by V4.SKUNK »

IMO Engineers should get repair points much faster than they currently acquire them.
For instance you get 20 points for standing about for 3-4mins fixing a tank, it's a joke, you get double the points for building a FB/bunker in the same amount of time.
This Engineer flaw needs fixing imo. You should at least get 20 points for repairing a tank by 25%.
Well what ever happens Engi's should get more points for repairing.

think you are right. But i dont care the points... Only the tank or whatever does matter, not the points you get to do something.

goodness, people can't wait to announce their acquiescence to the PR philosophy :D .

Its a small change, and given the time investment by an engineer in a relatively boring task it might as well be bountiful point wise.

people respond to incentives. points are a form of incentive. if you give out more points for a boring task you'll most likely see an increase in occupation with exactly that task ;)

i agree with skunk and rudd

On the "Ooh, Im so tw oriented, i dont need points" issue:
me2! I could live without ANY sort of points system, but as long as we still have it, we might aswell distribute them evenly

Yep,but some people play for points, so if we can make more poeple happy, then let's make them happy and smile smugly to ourselves as we retain our moral anti point superiority. :)

Points are a method of recording the rounds performance, tankers always lead the scoreboard while there engis, providing a essential service, are not recognized for there service.

Good suggestion, the more point people get for doing such task the more keep playing the game the right way.

Agreed.
The point system has a big bug in it somwhere anyway which we have witnessed on tcombat.com in the last couple of months, where some players get rediculously high scores within less that ten minutes. So i think it warrents taking a look into it, but i imagine it is one of the more complex bugs that would take a heck of a lot of time and a lot of trys to spot.

I think engys would appreciate points for repairing bridges. Then again, that would lead to the engineer blowing up the bridge and repairing it again. Stat-padding PR-style. :o

Moar points, moar people repairing. It's terrible in vanilla being the wrenchman, but it's still nice to stay in the "self-repairing haxxing APC!!" and help it stay alive. ^.^

Why not please everyone by adding points instead of continuing to piss the same people off for the sake of 'realism'?

because the name of this mod is project REALITY, and the goal is realism.

I am going to be simple since argument will go no where.

1. Engineers are under appreciated and always have been. By increasing the points of Repair it inspires those who are point oriented to feel better about themselves after a long round of repairing. Since there is no rank standard in this mod and nothing to unlock there really isn't any point to not change repair points for the better. The only reward is what you feel personally at the end of a round.

2. The bug where someone gets huge repair points in a round is due to the repairing Command Post bug. Build a firebase or bunker near a Command Post and it will keep attempting to repair it. The first engineer that sticks their shovel in that exploding mess will get a lot of points sometimes. The same thing goes for whomever blows up the firebase or bunker. Their attack score will be very high.

3. Given how long it takes to repair a bridge there is no engineer in their right mind who would attempt to stat pad in this way. Unless of course they enjoy spending an hour repairing a bridge the entire game for maybe about 80 repair points that doesn't get saved and goes away at the end of the round. Wave your little banner for yourself while the load screen is up because you can set it down after the next map loads.

Hence I see no reason why you can't give the Engineers a little more points for being good repair folk. It doesn't hurt the game and it gives those that relate themselves to points a bit of pride to know they did good work.

There is no argument because there is nothing to argue about.
